Thor. Crossovers are worthless for argument purposes, and Thor has magic to aid him. There's probably people Supes can beat that Thor can't, but head-to-head the magic is the decider.

And AC, lighten up. I find Mr. Bootleg rather amusing, grammatical issues notwithstanding. And besides, "We Be Bootleg" and similar jargon is just a harmless form of roleplaying...which is what a lot of comic-book reading is anyway.

Amen. Superman has greater strength, some greater personal powers, but the HAMMER tips this battle to Thor. It isn't just magical, it is perhaps the most powerful magically enhanced weapon in the universe... without magic it is formidable... with magic (imbued by Odin) it is just too much for Superman.

Superman stopped it with just one hand...... 😎

Superman wins

He could also life the hammer temporarily. This was just because of the stressful times at hand. Otherwise Supes could not have caught the hammer.

Not quite.

The comics in the 1930s incorporated live fantasy and patriotism. Superman was meant to be a enthnographic character for America. Superman could beat anyone at anytime. That was the general perception of America. "We can beat any country." Superman was created to be iconic figurehead for America's ideals. His powers were not really explained because they felt it wasn't necessary.

Spider-Man was created during the science boom of the 60's. His powers would make sense.

Comics of the thirties were written for KIDS. That's why they were so simplistic. By the sixties, Stan & co. realized that older kids and even adults read comics, and tried to be a little more realistic/sophisticated. At the same time, DC had superman blowing out distant suns with his superbreath, and swallowing A-bombs. Eventually they realized they had to change (Crisis) and nowadays DC characters are a little more realistic.
Superman came out at the height of the great depression- one of the darkest, most uncertain times in US history. There was no perception of "we can beat any country" in the American psyche... just fear. Superman was created to be a social crusader, to help lift up the little guy. That's why his first acts were:
- Stopping an unjust execution.
- Preventing domestic violence.
- Stopping a arms dealer and a corrupt polition from starting a phony overseas war (where are you when we need you today Supes?)

Look, two page dissertations on "the vibrational wavelength of magic" are interesting reading, but are ultimately kinda of silly. Thor and Supes are the biggest guns of their respective universes (non-cosmic that is), and they should be an even match. I grant Superman's greater strength, invulnerability, and speed (but not thousands of times better!- Get real), but only a fool would deny that Mjolinr is a serious, and potentially deadly challenge to Superman.

Depending on how Superman is written he can either be insanely powerful with only a few beings on DC Earth able to take him on - or he's being punked by new pretenders.
Personally I prefer Superman to be a little more "normal" in his level of power but he still somtimes comes across as a little pre-crisis occasionally.

Thor could indeed defeat Darkseid in battle. His hammer could deflect the oe and we have seen Batman recently do damage to Darkseid nowadays. Hell, Raker kinda whipped his ass.

weeeeellllllll......i dont know..in some threads, ds=odin or something like that or ds>odin or odin>ds.... but the point is that their at around the same tier or something

sooooooooo......i dont see thor winning over odin, so...there is no reason to believe that thor would beat ds...

and the superman wins over ds should never have happend...

but it did, many times i believe....

superman should be moved higher and placed at around low skyfather

😆

Thor KO'ed Odin's body before...

Thor with the belt of Strength, Asgardian Armor, Gauntlets of Might, Mijolnir, and Odinforce wipes the floor with Superman every time.

Without everything but Mjilnor, Superman would take a majority.

I don't even remember if I responded to this before. This is a tough one. It would have been an easy win for Superman but JMS seems to be putting Thor back to what he originally was at Marvel, the guy Stan Lee said was his version of Superman (forget Captain Retcon alias the Sentry). Thor's the guy that destroys space armadas, overpowers living planets, beats Mephisto in his own realm (yes he really did that before they retconned the power levels and put Mephisto on a far higher level). Now with JMS he's getting some of that back, taking a direct hit from the Destroyer and still standing for example, taking out Iron-Man in one hit.

I think Superman still wins. Superman's 'weakness' to magic does not work the way some people think it does. Thor's hammer does not automatically bash his head in just because its made of a mystical material and the lightning is still lightning though summoned magically. Mostly its spell magic that gets Superman and even that isn't consistent. In any non-PIS fight where they use all their abilities, Superman is just too fast. Superman just overwhelms him with speed.

The last time wonder woman and superman fought wonder woman had a complete edge over superman WHILE HOLDING BACK. Superman was using his abilities to the fullest because 1st he thought that he was fighting a doomsday that just killed louis and wonderwoman still owned him.

berserk doesn't mean he was better. superman was on a rampage following an emotional break down. that's why the first they teach you in a fight is to stay focused or else you're just wasting your energy. wonder woman is his near equal but would obviously beat him if he's got his panties in such a bundle after watching the woman he loved DIE. it's not even a fight.

IIRC it was in Sacrifice right? i remember him breaking her wrist, and that she only "beat" him after surprising him with a slash on the throat with her tiara.......which doesn't matter since he was alright a few seconds later thanx to his healing.

Also DC always made it obvious that superman is a tier above her. or rather to be more clear, that she's second only to superman.

and i think without the belt of power, Thor is gonna lose. put that in, and supes is paste.

Classic Thor loses, current wins.

Though Superman still wins, it appears current Thor would do better in his battle that he may have before.

It's tricky to judge it completely since both characters have had some sort of rebirth lately.

Current Thor would probably take 7/10 from Superman.

Current Thor has the OdinPower. He wins

Nobody brawls like Superman. But put a magic hammer in a thunder god's hands (and tell him: "Don't. Fight. Like a. Brick!"😉, and red undies will only get ya so far.

With the odinforce Superman gets rocked and oneshotted.
