Ive heard of heroes not going lightspeeds on Earth for that reason, but ive never heard of someone not doing it even in space because of it.
Superman doesn't travel at high speeds on earth because of atmospheric disturbances, not ripping space time. There is a difference.
Thor can move at the speed of lightning. Mjolnir can pull him faster than the speed of light. Superman may have superior traveling speed on land, but Thor could certainly match Superman's hand to hand fighting speed. Speedblitzing Thor is out of the question. Superman isn't extremely vulnerable to magic, so it's going to take more than a couple whacks from Mjolnir to put him down, given his ability to push past his limits. Both are on the same level of strength, but Thor is definitely the better fighter of the two. The only department Superman has Thor beat in is durability, because of his bio-matrix, and traveling speed on land (Thor has never been shown to run at superspeed.) Superman won't give Thor an easy win, but Thor definitely has the advantage in this fight. If the Godly Essence Blast is enough to drive off Galactus, it would certainly hurt Superman.
IMO, Thor wins.
So far, he has deflected a psi-bolt from Phoenix when it was about two feet from his face, he matched Count Nefaria in combat speed, and he was said to have the speed of lightning itself by Adam Warlock. Marvel.com says Thor has "Godlike strength, speed, endurance and resistance to injury."
I'm looking for more evidence to further prove this notion.

Keep the faith 🙂
Beaten by wonder woman clad in the witchblade almost to death.
Supes beat Blaze in a cheesy way. He was tortured in 1 and 3/4 of the issues.

🙄
So he didn't wrestle Asmodel to a standstill.
try and put your rebuttles outside quotes you use otherwise they are very flawed.
Supes has beaten Blaze more than once since 1985 and Crisis.
Wonderwoman/Witchblade reference please, you need to state at least a general area of the comic continuity with your statement. 😄 If you are going to use a counter example as a rebuttle. 😄

True, but Asmodel was rouge when he wrestled Superman. Rouge angels are weak. Had Asmodel been in obedience to the Presence, the fight would have been much different.
After review, I have come to the conclusion that Thor does have super speed, though he isn't quite as fast as Superman is. However, Superman's speed advantage doesn't mean much. Thor has superior reflexes, and far superior fighting ability. Thor is easily as strong as Superman is, but he is slightly less durable. Thor could go hand to hand with Superman, and over come him. Mjolnir is one of the most powerful magical artifacts in Marvel. With it, Thor is able to fly faster than light, and create a storm large enough to cover the face of the Earth.
Superman may have been unscathed by magic from demons, etc., but divine magic has certainly taken it's toll on him. Thor is a God, and one of the most powerful magic wielders in Marvel.
Thor has greater reflexes, he is at least equal to Superman in strength, and possesses far superor fighting skills. Superman's only two advantages are moderately superior speed and durability, both of which can be remedied via Mjolnir. With Mjolnir, Thor is faster than Superman (in the air,) and can deflect any of Superman's attacks.
I don't see Thor losing this fight.

Thor doesn't do well against Superman clones like Hyperion and Nefaria. If were going to say similair things affect the characters 😄

Actually, he did pretty well against Nefaria. He was matching Nefaria's speed in their battle, and he even deflected Nefaria's heat vision at close range, while dazed. I don't recall him fighting Hyperion.
Squadron Sinister he got a bad beating from him. Hyperion came from the microverse was able to create a vortex to shrink him. Nefaria knocked him out.
Thor beats Hyperion by...wait, I'll let Yellowjacket explain: "Somehow, his hammer duplicated...and reversed...the atomic process that gave Hyperion his powers!" Umm, OK. (Avengers 71)
