Thor is one of Marvel's heaviest hitters. He has potential to do things that haven't even been written for his character yet. I dare say a Thor/Galactus fight could be an epic written out into a minimum of three issues.

Superman is stronger, tougher, faster, and a bit more versatile. He also has better showings and I think a higher upper potential.
Superman beats Thor in this.
