Thor and Captain Marvel have relatively the same powers. Superman survived several magical lightning blasts from Captain Marvel in Kingdom Come. Then afterwards they both got hit by a nuclear warhead and only Superman walked away. It would depend on who wrote the fight as to who would win. It could be written either way.
Every character is vulnerable to magic... even Thor. Without his hammer Thor would be nothing. He technically shouldnt even have Mjolnir since Beta Ray Bill beat his a$$ and won it.
His "magical lightning" would hurt Superman but it would not kill him. Superman was trying to reason with Captain Marvel when he got hit by dozens of lightning bolts. An enraged Superman would kick the crap out of Thor. He is just as strong... faster... and doesnt go crying to Odin everytime he gets into trouble.
The origins of Darkseid and Thor are almost exactly the same. Superman has beaten the crap out of Darkseid. I dont remember Darkseid ever running to his daddy.

Thor could not lift the serpent when Loki had it in the form of a cat. He could never get all 4 legs off of the ground. He also needs a magical belt to augment his strength to go over class 100. He needs Mjolnir to fly and project lightning. If you ask me Thor needs to just walk away from Superman and stick to entertaining little kids as a magician at their birthday parties.

quite a few mistake in this one paragraph...... thor is high class 100 without the belt (there is no "over" class 100... anyone lifting 100 tons or more is class 100) Loki didn't hide the serpent as a cat... it was someone else... Superman has never withstood a direct hit from a powerful magical energy attack in any of his comics. Every time Superman gets hit by magical energy, he goes down. Thor would wear Superman down with Mjolnir, or he could use the Godblast and make it quick. Superman is faster, but not fast enough to speedblitz Thor. In Superman #216, Superman took several direct blast from CM magical lighting when Eclipso had control of his body.
Superman been up against plenty of magical beings, he's not going down from magic attacks. And he's fast enough to speedbiltz Thor, and knock Mjolnir away. And the Godblast takes to long to summon; Superman isn't going to stand there and let that happen. He could just as easily finish the fight with his Heat Vision. 🙂

That wasn't Superman fighting though. He's not going to fly right in front of the attacks like Eclipso was doing. Superman was hit a total of nine times and he still lived so he's not that vurnable to magic. Those attacks would do the same to Thor aswell.
Superman can fire off a fully powered Heat Vision blast on to Thor, or Speedbiltz him while at the same knock the hammer from his hand because Thor never seem to do well against speedsters.
He wanted CM to kill him because he couldn't break free of his control, and he knew what Eclipso was capable of. 🙂
