Dark Rendezvous mentions that Dooku is in superb physical shape and wore his eighty plus years better than most people half his age. And once again, Dooku noted Makashi wasn't capable of doing it.
The fact is that he's still old. Trust me I know he is fit for his advanced age. He kicked Anakin like he was nothing and later on when they were in a saberlock Dooku was there goading Anakin while Anakin was groaning sounding like he was having a hard time holding the lock. ( I still think that Dooku held back the entire fight. )
For a while there, I was theorizing that because of his age Dooku was using the force to augment his movement. No doubt he does somewhat but at the same time I recall that using the force to assist movements while in battle is a characteristic of Ataru practitioners.
Makashi is about letting your opponent tire themselves out. Dooku benefits from using Makashi if anything...

Actually it is. My cousins would use the normal two handed styles, while I was the only one who chose to use a fencing style. They're styles were agressive in nature while I mine was not so much passive but tactical. With one hand I was able to hold my own against them, in terms of the blades actually clapping against each other and kinetic force being exchanged.
If I could could spar on even terms with my cousins who were in better condition and used more aggressive forms of "swordfighting", then how is it beyond the realm of possibility that in a fantastical fantasy world it would be any different, especially considering that I'm not the most fit person and that the combatants in question are?

Tons and tons of problems with this...
First, I don't hate Dooku. I recognize him to be a powerful Sith Lord. I just realize he's not the end all be all.
Second, comparing McDiarmid and Lee is irrelevant; we're comparing their characters.
Third, I'm not loyal to Palpatine. I've just recognized (and proven) that he is the most powerful Force user in the mythos, who happens to be more powerful, smarter, and greater than Dooku. Not personal preference, merely a reflection of canon truths.
I know I just felt the need to say Lee>McDiarmid. Is that ok with you KMC grand master? You like Sidious enough to write a whole essay about him though right? Hell I just named my KMC self ~Lord Tyranus~. But different strokes for different folks I guess...

Why you felt the need to assert that Christopher Lee > Ian McDiarmid, I don't know. Not only is it completely subjective, it suggests that you are, in fact, the only fanboy here. I wrote an essay over Sidious's dominance for leisure time; it was a well researched paper and fantastically written, much to great acclaim. The topic does not make it any less scholarly or any less impressive, which was the point.
The fact of the matter is that the literature isn't faulty because you don't like it. I don't hate Dooku; I recognize him to be a powerful, talented Lord of the Sith. But Sidious is stronger, smarter, and just better for several reasons, not the least of which is that Dooku was absolutely terrified of him. The fact that the logical conclusion is that Sidious > Dooku (by a lot) doesn't make me a Sidious fanboy. It simply makes me right.
We wouldn't have had this problem if you hadn't whined to Darth Sexy about being mean. And so when you get an answer you don't like, you want to act like a jackass? Yeah, hypocritical. No wonder you and Janus get along.

Excellent point Gideon! Also, even if Mace had invented Vaapad before said sparring match, he certainly wouldn't have utilized it for such a relatively insignificant situation. Vaapad isn't used unless it's deemed to be absolutely vital in regard to the situation at hand.
