Hals ring knew that he wouldnt be able to survive the explosion, thus the automatic defence screen goes up.

Hal Jordan without Parallax's power is just as powerful as Surfer with the power cosmic. Hals will power alone allows him to be more powerful than Superman, Wonderwoman, Batman and Flash combined. Gl's and SS powers are about the same.

Hit him with what? A punch? It wont phaze him. An energy blast? It wont kill him or hardly phaze him.

People think Gl isnt capable of many things. Hal is different from anyother Gl ever. He's dont thigs the others couldnt imagine, thats why they arent on his level. As a GL, you have to have the will power and believe you can do the impossible. Hal has the greatest will out of the whole JLA. He can do anything he thinks of.
