You didn't read the comic then.
Odin asked if Thanos gave up? If you're trying to kill some someone, do you pause and ask if they give up?

Actually my interpretation of "Do you yield villain"
Was Odin realizing that he couldn't put thanos down even after hitting him with practically all hes got. Even getting gungir out, blasting thanos with it. Thanos absorbing the second blast and taking it while walking towards odin, and eventually getting a hold of it.
After all that, Odin was surprised than thanos was still standing. He even commented that he had not been in battle of this caliber in ages. But since you know the comic so well you should know this.
One thing I do agree is that if they fought for a longer time, eventually thanos would fall. But Odin would have to be hitting him full power like he was previously.
I don't agree how some interpreted that fight though. Didn't see Odin taking it easy one bit.
