Really? Well, damn hot diggity! Morrison better come up with darn good explanation why Batman has been completely and utterly out of character. Bruce is been nothing but careless as far as whom to trust. The romance with Jezebel is so rush that is not even funny. That villain in R.I.P. better have some super powers otherwise Batman really drop the ball here. There is only one character capable of pulling all this and that is Ra. He better be in the story...if not....oh, there goes everything.

Further more...Heart of Hush hit the nail by showing what REALLY happens when someone infiltratres the Batcave. I really had a hard time believing that the Black Glove infiltrated the cave and then destroying.

Even worse Gordon in this story is FAR more worse than out of character. He has the entire Gotham City Police Dept fill with detectives and he can't even investigate the allegations agaisnt Thomas???? That's not all! He walks into Wayne manor accompany by ONE single cop?? Again, he has the entire Gotham Police Department at his disposal and gets caught off guard so easy? No, I don't buy that for a second.

Call R.I.P. Mysterious...call it intriguing...heck! call it entertaining if you like....but INTELLIGENT???? No, not for all the gold in El Dorado.

The JJ relationship began in the second issue of the story and continues to progress throughout his run. Bruce revealed his identity to a thief villain chick in Loeb's Hush. JJ's parents died and in Bruce's eyes, she's on a mission to use her wealth and status to improve the world. Yeah, completely out of character for him to fall in love with someone like that. 😕

The unnamed villain proved his capabilities throughout Morrison's run. Maybe you missed those some details. Striking at the very core of Bruce Wayne's existence is more effective than going after one of his ex's and...trying to give himself plastic surgery so he can assume his identity? Weak.

The Black Glove infiltrated the cave to mock Bruce. Did you see Doctor Hurt dancing around in Thomas Wayne's costume? It's a joke to them since they're well beyond the limitations of a silly hide out.

Gordon went to question Bruce Wayne, the civilian. He doesn't know Bruce is Batman and in danger so why would he bring a SWAT team to Wayne manor? Do you want him to walk around with a crystal ball?

People who think HOH>RIP are like people who think Return of the Jedi>Empire Strikes back...ie aliens.

Thief villain chick that he's know for years. Nice try to minimize the Selina character. JJ tragic story like many other previous love stories does NOT make it above the rest. So many women have come to Bruce's arms with tragic tales and goodwill...yet this chick makes the sale? Yes, very completely out of character for Bruce NOT to investigate the woman...then bring her into the batcave and show her the secrets in the cave. VERY clever Bruce....

An unnamed villain that no one even heard of comes out of nowhere and all of sudden infiltrates the Batcave and hack the batcomputer. That better be one Super-power guy with a super mind to be capable to infiltrate the Batcave...hack the Batcomputer...then destroy everything and walk away like nothing. Thanks for remind me that the Batcave and the batcomputer are also are out of charater as well.

Yeah, Hush does plastic surgery...that's what he is...a skill surgeon. Is he hacking computers? Is he taking over the world? No, he is good at what he does and that is cut people up.

When Hush infiltrated the Batcave RED ALERT lights flash all over Gotham. Nightwing gets there along with Robin...in minutes...yet this guy...crafted out of Morrison's mind not only parades the batcave...hacks the batcomputer...and then walks out?

Gee, the Batcomputer is the most important computer in the DCU. With information to JLA, JSA,TT, Outsiders, and so much more....yet for some reason when Dr. Hurt is dancing around NO ONE shows up on time????

YEAAAHHHH....that's a good eye!

He should be walking around with his police radio. Calling for backup when things go wrong...oh, but why would a police veteran would need back up? I mean...an investigation is going and there is no need to secure the premises...typical police procedures...Gordon really had me there.

Yes, I prefer HOH over R.I.P. it's simple, fun, and exciting...not over pretentious such as the case with R.I.P.

Sue me.

Now, I'd rather not continue this discussion since, seeing your 'arguments', it will most likely degenerate. (I'm not really a patient person, and you're a mod. That's a pretty bad combination, lol).

I think it's best to just wait for the ending of R.I.P.

Don't want to degenerate this discussion. It would be wrong.

So I take it the typical Batman fan wants Bruce to be an infallible God among men and supermen?

Well think about it for a minute SC....Batman holds in the Batcomputer all information on the greatest and most powerful superheros on earth. As well as records of the most powerful villains in his batcomputer. You would think that such a place be handle with much MORE proper care.

If this was the case of Lex Corp, Braniac, Anarchy, Ra...then yeah! I would give the benefit of the doubt. Those people have shown in the past they can infiltrate and cause damage...but these are well accomplish criminal minds. Not some black glove guy that snap out of Morrison's mind.

This is kind of argument that really can't be won on either side.

There are two points: what you're looking for in a Batman story- like WrathfulDwarf said, "silver age"-y, a classic Batman story. That's good. That's often pretty awesome.

Or you want something innovative and new from time to time- Batman's been running for seventy years, it's kind of nice to see something tremendously fresh, and smart, and enthralling.

The other argument is whether or not you like Morrison's writing. Without devolving into an argument on his literary merits, it's pretty tough to convince someone to like something that they don't- you have to organically grow to accept it, otherwise it comes across as patronizing and condescending to be like "Morrison's a genius and if you don't recognize that, then you're illiterate." I didn't like "Kingdom Come," which this board holds in pretty high regard- but even though I'm willing to try and see its merits, I can't be forced to enjoy it.

I personally happen to like Morrison a hell of a lot- I think he's pretty keen; the Invisibles is possibly my favorite series of all time. But I can only display my enthusiasm for Morrison's writing- I can't force others to enjoy it.

Personally, I think RIP has been thrilling. I'm really looking forward to the ending and can't wait to read the story in TPB format so I can see all the things I've missed.

Quick digression:

Of course Bruce has been acting somewhat out of character! That's the whole point of the story! 90% of the idea of RIP is a look at what those seventy years of adventure (and especially the Silver Age) would DO to a human mind- Batman's going crazy. Plus, he's been under subtle psychological attack from the Black Glove from the beginning.

Totally agree......oh and Kingdom Come is definitely over hyped. Good? Yeah. Great? No.

Although I can understand why people love Alex Ross' art....

What do you think may happen when its all over?

WHO do you think will become Batman, Bruce Wayne still or someone else?

I think I've got the ending.

Spoiler:
Bruce arranged the whole BlackGlove thing years ago as some elaborate/crazy plan to make himself invincible

Anyone else want to guess?

Spoiler:
Bruce foils the Black Glove's plans but at the cost of his sanity. Questioning his mission he is either admitted to Arkham or retires. After a long storyline, involving the many faces of the Bat family, Nightwing becomes the new Bats

I'm thinking the exact same thing

✅ Although I'd rather Bruce stayed as Batman, that's the alternative I'd appreciate most ✅

Same here

the thing is though, when Dick took over in Prodigal he really wasn't too comfortable as Batman so I hope this time around Dick is more comfortable as Batman and I 'm also hoping he designs a brand new Batsuit and still uses his escrima sticks

I didn't think I could get even more excited about the conclusion, but I did. That looks awesome.

That's awesome.

I entered a thread at the DC Boards, and was already spoiled on one thing .. facepalm

Spoiler:
Bruce is not the Black Glove
