No, the word "work" does not mean "comfortable". The word "work" mean that it is active and makes a noticeable effect on my life.
I did make a leap of faith. However, that leap of faith was simple; like the willingness to open your eyes. Once I started learning and chanting, I could see the change in my life.

So how do you know it works?

Fact:- the Big Bang is an unproven theory dreamed up by some scientists, I can dream up any daft idea and find some "evidence" for it.
"Evidence" in this sense of course, being some vague wild guesses to explain why certain things do certain things without knowing a thing about them.

However the evidence is over whelming.
1. The universe is expanding.
2. Background radiation.
Now if you find any evidence as compelling to support your idea, then you are on to something. BTW these are not vague wild guesses. The Big Bang Theory had to over come the popular Steady State Theory that most scientists believed, including Einstein. However, I have the feeling you have no idea what I am talking about.

LOL. so u know nuthing of physics or astronomy. gotcha.
expansion of galacy cluster
uniform pattern of background radiation.
read up.

A Catholic monk came up with Big Bang...

Actually the term Big Bang was made up by Fred Hoyle to make fun of the theory.
The monk came up with the theory though...

He wasn't a monk actually !

You are correct about that. However, he came up with it as a scientist, and not as a theologian.

Wow. This is one of the more ignorant posts I have seen during my time here. Not the most ignorant, but it is up there.
Quoting from the US National Institute of Sciences:
'Some scientific explanations are so well established that no new evidence is likely to alter them.[...]In science, the word theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of an important feature of nature that is supported by many facts gathered over time. Theories also allow scientists to make predictions about as yet unobserved phenomena[...]'
The background radiation, red/blue shift in distant galaxies, and (this is from wikipedia: the abundance of light elements.) I am not familiar with the third, so I will only discuss the first two.
Cosmic background radiation is a ubiquitous 'white noise' of microwave and gamma (?) radiation that was probably caused by a Big Bang like event.
The red/blue shifts in distant galaxies show that they are either moving towards or away from us- which also would support Big Bang theory.
The idea that someone would 'find some "evidence" for [their theory]' is absurd. If any evidence was faked or in any way biased, the rest of the scientific community would jump on it as a breech of the scientific method. The truth is that a theory is as established an idea as there can be in the scientific world.
Yeah, the differing uses of the word 'theory' in common usage and the scientific community is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to getting people to understand scientific theories and take them seriously. The way it's used colloquially is closer to the scientific definition for 'hypothesis.' I've thought for a long time that scientists should band together and start using a new word to make it clearer to the public.
A common misconception (that, admittedly, was only recently pointed out to me) it that scientists don't 'hope to raise theories into laws'. Theories will never 'change' into scientific laws- there is not a progression from hypothesis -> law, with varying degrees of uncertainty; rather, there is a dichotomy of laws and theories (laws describe natural phenomena, and theories explain those laws) that is not widely known.
