STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Learner

From the arm comm crackles another message, before the power goes out.

"Request received," comes a gruff voice. "Support confirmed."

"Yes, Commander Jarko."

"I will be there in a moment..."

The droid captain goes back to attention to await the arrival of Jarko.

"Great..." Rianna says to herself in frustration.

"We need a new plan. They know we're here and the walking weapon is on his way."

Palpatine simply looks distraught.

"We're going to have to fight him eventually," Ciira says, gulping. "Unless you have any ideas, I'm all out."

"No, that was basically it. I know we're going to have to fight him eventually but I wasn't looking forward to it. Plus all of the droids around here..." Rianna says, slightly nervously.

"But we know he's coming. Let's try setting up an ambush. Ciira, find yourself cover and stay there. If there's anything you can make into a flying weapon with the Force, do so. Senator, you should find cover with her. It'll be safer than staying near me, I'm sure. I plan on finding myself a hiding place to attack him from."

Palpatine is going to retreat to a safe distance, Ciira with him.

Where do you want to go?

Hmmm. I don't know. Somewhere Rianna can take cover and hide and be not noticed but can easily get out of (and most importantly, not get trapped!). I've a feeling she'll need to take advantage of her speediness here.

I will just use the same spot for simplicity, and also your same good roll, just to be nice. Consider yourself concealed but able to observe the entrance.

So you can see when the elevator ascends from below and Jarko, the Walking Weapon, steps out. The droids perform an about-face.

"Where are the Jedi?" Jarko asks. His voice is very gruff but handsome, with an electronic overtone that never variates from its low note.

"They attacked from that alleyway," the droid captain tells him.

Jarko looks in your direction, and there is a flash from his cybernetic eye. It only takes him a moment to spot you, but all he does is make eye contact before turning back to the droids.

"Thank you, foul machine," Jarko says. He raises his arms and the light blasters pop out. In a flash of blasterfire, he sends a flurry of lasers through the droid captain's chassis and takes down another two battle droids with him.

Well, safe to say Rianna's not sure what to think about that one.

What do her senses tell her?

She's staying hidden for the moment, though, even if he does know where she is.

You sense no personal danger.

The droids were as surprised as you were. In the time that it takes for them to aim their blasters at him, Jarko dismantles another three with his blasters. At the same time, a device extends itself from his shoulder and unleashes a green blast behind him, one that explodes to form a sphere of energy that melts the circuits of four more droids.

No personal danger? Well, that's good at least.

Is Rianna in range to use something like Combat Push on the droids?

That you can. How many targets?

Two, I suppose - she's not good enough to try anymore than that and expect to actually do anything.

You only manage to lay one flat. But the droids are not quite paying attention to you, as they have started firing on Jarko. Twelve shooters on one heavily-armored target... the blaster bolts flash and fizzle against his body. But so armored is Jarko that he only takes one point of damage after six direct hits.

He extends a hand and sends two battle droids flying with his kinetic launcher, and with the other hand pops out his blades, intending to engage the droids in close combat.

How many are left at this point?

Rianna will use Combat Push against two again, and hopes Ciira will do something similar.

Ciira has no idea what is going on.

There are nine after you push another one down. Jarko's disruptor cannon discharges again, forming another spherical blast and taking out four droids while he lays into another two with his katars and xiphoids, shredding their metal casings.

More blasterfire sparks against his armor but he takes no damage from the light firepower of the carbines. The four remaining droids get chopped down with swipes from his katars, and the entrance is left undefended.

"JEDI!" he shouts. "I can see you. Come out."

Rianna will exit her hiding place, then, lightsaber out and ignited. She has no idea what's going on and isn't about to trust him.

"Explain what is going on here, now," she replies.

"I am no longer working for Roch," he says, slowly and flatly. His blaster weapons and blades return to their hidden compartments. "I did not know what he intended to do. I owed him my life and so followed his orders blindly. But... that virus... it will turn people into what I have already become. A machine. A monster."

Despite the perpetually sullen expression that conveys no emotion, you can see the sadness in his single good eye.

"I cannot let that happen. I must stop him. I will help you."

Rianna narrows her eyes at him, still not about to trust him. She'll use Scan on him to see if she can pick up anything.

"And how do I know you're not going to simply hand us over to him? Try and kill us later on? I'm not generally inclined to trust people who have tried killing me already," she replies, lowering her lightsaber but keeping it ignited.

Scan... gets very little. You sense remorse, but... his mind has been altered. Tampered with. Hard to tell what he is feeling, as he may not even know himself. Lobotomy, perhaps?

Without a word, Jarko reaches beneath his clothing- which has been nearly burnt off of him by the blasters, revealing his bulky armored body- and opens a compartment in his side. From it he pulls out two cylindrical objects... your lightsaber and Ciira's. He throws them at your feet.

"You were trying to enter the undercity," Jarko says. "Roch is not there. He is in a warehouse not far from here. The warehouse contains walkers that bear cannisters that will release the virus. It is being protected by battle droids and infected pirates. I will deal with them."

The tampered with part concerns Rianna a bit, as she worries that Roch might be able to control him or something.

"Fine. I still do not trust you, but we could do with the help," Rianna says. She'll put away Jeph's lightsaber and calls hers and Ciira's to her hand with the Force. She'll keep hers out though, she's not going to put it away.

"Ciira! Let's go!" she calls out.
