I'm kind of disappointed with this game. It feels like they gutted all of the customization from the previous games. The story was not nearly as interesting as i thought it was going to be. I'm not sure if that's because the Civil War story line really isn't that fascinating or because, like the comics the execution of the story wasn't as good as the concept. I was really expecting something different here and for the most part, i got less than what i was given with the first ultimate alliance.
X-men Legends 2 and Ultimate Alliance had a nice balance that, at times, felt more like an RPG than a beat em up. I really hated the fact the each hero only had four powers. It's still a fun game but it definitely felt like a bare bones game to me. It almost seemed like the developers were given free reign over a pivotal story line and decided to play it safe so they didn't risk failing.

Got it yesterday. Finished it today (anti side). It was pretty good but I did find myself going through the motions too often. Loved the cut scenes. Pretty much exactly as in the comic books which made them much sweeter. I liked some of the extra costumes, others not so much.
Is classic Venom a costume?

It does feel like that, but I don't think that's what they were going for.
One of my favorite things about this game is the fact that the characters are so well balanced. It isn't like I thought MUA1 was, where some characters were just plain awful and others were over powered. It feels like every character in this game is usable and fun.
I really think all the developers needed was more time. I think they spent most of their time working on the individual characters instead of changing up the combat system or fine tuning the storyline, adding more levels to the game or whatever else.
I can understand that though. From being on the MUA2 forums I noticed that for a lot of people this game is completely about the characters, so they worked extra hard on them to please as many people as possible.

I noticed, too that all of the characters were more balanced but for me that hurt the game a great deal. I know that it's going to be hard to make each hero feel tangible in a beat em up game but i think this one failed miserably. It felt like i was playing the same character through out the entire game, regardless of who i was playing with. I think this came from taking away the power customization. Instead of working to unlock new abilities or powering up a certain ability you have them all from the start and they never feel very powerful.
I still think the combat system is fine. I know a lot of people are complaining about that but it's hard to make a beat em up with dozens of unlockable characters with a combat system as deep as God of War.
