That would be cool.

More and more I get into the campaign, the more I like it. Could also be the case that I love collecting shit and wargear is horrible for that.

"What I just got a chainsaw that can cut into Orks faster!!!" or

"What the ****, I just got a dreadnought!!!!!. **** I got to play another mission".

Here is the full version of the teaser pic for the upcoming expansion.

oh, they finally posted it. about time.

so is it a campain add on or simply a multiplayer race? or, of course, both.

Full on expansion, with campaign and everything.

Early rumours I hear have you continuing to play your characters form the original campaign- with a new level capof 30-- but with a new Corruption mechanic that sees the possiiblity of you becoming the bad guys, so I guess it is a Chaos and Marine campaign in one.

That is unconfirmed though.

And just as I posted that, this info was released:

---

"The next chapter in the critically acclaimed RTS, Dawn of War II...

THQ today announced Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II – Chaos Rising™, the next standalone chapter in the critically acclaimed RTS series, is scheduled for release on Games For Windows LIVE in spring 2010.

Set in the grim, war-ravaged world of Games Workshop’s vast Warhammer 40,000 science fiction universe, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising transports you into the midst of an intergalactic war between ancient enemies.

Continue the single player campaign from the original Dawn of War II with all new Wargear and a level cap raise from 20 to 30 for your Blood Raven squad. Veterans of the Dawn of War II single player campaign can use their existing squads’ accumulated wargear, abilities and experience to battle the traitorous Chaos Space Marines of the Black Legion throughout 20 new missions. Powerful new Chaos-tainted wargear can also be equipped and used against your enemy, but doing so could lead to dreadful consequences.

The Chaos Space Marines will also be playable as a brand new army in multiplayer. Other multiplayer additions include new units for Orks, Eldar, Tyranids and Space Marines, as well as new multiplayer maps."

NICE.

I wonder how much it's going to cost to purchase.

That depends on the use of 'standalone'. If it genuinely can be purchased on its own, it might be full price, or close. Steam might offer a discount for existing owners of course.

Full expansion price, or full regular game price?

I suspect similar pricing to the CoH expansions.

If it is standalone then it is not literally an expansion, so I was referring to full game price (or close to). Still, we'll see.

That we will.

So cool 😄

I assume from "standalone" that it'll be like winter assault/dark crusade/soulstorm was for the original...

Not Winter Assault; that was a straight expansion.

yeah, sorry. i only realised that afterwards...

Interesting rumour I hear on this one- yes, it is standalone, but the multiplayer will not only be fully compatible with the original, but also people that don't buy Chaos Rising can still use Chaos in multiplayer.

Only a rumour, but good service if true- and means the playing community will not be split.

That it is a pretty cool feature if that's the case, it means that basis of the expansion is clearly on SP. Could bode well for the campaign.

I imagine you would need CR for the new mutiplayer maps as well.

True.

Teaser for CR now up here.
