I'll try and find friends to play it with until I can finish it. I just don't think I'll be tempted to keep playing for score after that, is all. Maybe as an occasional knock around.
Still, for free, who's complaining?
As for other scenarios etc- I am sure they will expand it. More characters to take too.

The Last Stand patch is out for this game- new co-op survival mode where you level a persistet hero between games. Not sure of its long-term appeal but definitely worth a look. BF and co, anyone up for a team-up? You need three people.
AI for skirmish is improving too; good news.
My Xbox recently broke so I'll be without it for a few weeks, so sure, I'm up for a game at some point.

It's more constructive criticism than complaining. It would be cool if they had a defensive front kinda of mode/map similar to a turret defense game.
Company of Heroes recently got something like that, so I think people were expecting it for DoWII. They say they will keep adding modes. Though multiplayer doesn't actually have a free for all option yet, which is a shame (though not many maps are suitable for FFA play). Likewise the team maximum is still 2. Nor are there 8 player maps yet. So plenty still to do.
I'll look out for you, BF!
Word has it that the Mirror Match on wave 16 is bit of a sod.
Granted I only played a few of the ToV mode but after the third round it was impossible simply because you started to have armored vehicles coming at you and you only could get one or two armored vehicles at your disposal.
Then the infantry started carrying anti tank weaponry also so there goes your vehicles. It had way more things to worry about. In Last Stand, your just worrying about you.

Anyone pick up the expansion yet? Thinking about buying it, interested in what some other people think before doing so (Ush, looking at you, buddy).
Yea, bought it on Steam yesterday. Haven't played much so far: the first Campaign mission, a few Last Stand games, and a few Skirmishes against the CPU. The first Campaign mission was pretty awesome, Last Stand is still Last Stand. I still haven't played as the Chaos Sorcerer, but saw some other guy use him: the Doppelganger ability seems to be pretty nifty, but he dies fast as all hell.
I thought that the additions to the existing factions were too few, but the Librarian is quite the kick to use.
Ok, been playing.
The campaign mode is actually very good. Noticeably better than the original, with no repetition at all- no random missions (though there are still optional ones), and everything is scripted. Ironically, they might not have needed to go that far. It's not a huge campaign, and they might have given some more optional longevity by putting in just a few random missions., The complaint about the original is that it was about 25% scripted, 75% random, and the random got repetitive. Now it is 100% scripted... it had room!
But yes- a good campaign, CHaos are much better enemies than Tyrannids, a. because of the cool powera and b. because they have villains that talk back to you!
The corruption mechanic is great- though as reviewers have mentioned, it is too often tied to failing things rather than choices made. It DOES apply to some choices; I feel it should have been ALL based on choices- and this gives definite replay value. Niftily, there is a traitor in the campaign, but it is not preset who it is; your actions and corruption gain during the campaign will set who it is.
I do feel, though, that as the non-preset traitor would make a canon sequel difficult, and as this story finally resolves the 'Dodgy Chaos-ish Blood Ravens' plot dating from the original series. this would be the last of the Blood Raven stories. Certainly with this lot anyway; I guess your Force Commander could go onto other stuff. And that's fine- they've given the plotline a good send off; it is WAY past time to look at other races now.
Other campaign highlights include control of vehicles (at last) and even Imperial Guard units; the Guard are expanded in scope for the expansion, which increases speculation that they will be the race done next.
(Talking of which- whilst the imported retreat mechanic from CoH has worked well, it still feels... not very Space Mariney., Taking casualties, retreating, re-grouping and attacking again, with infinite reinforcements so long as you can get back to that point, feels FAR more like you are playing the Guard than the Space Marines. Not strange, when you think about it- the Guard were always going to fit CoH mechanics best, as the whole set-up of the Guard is virtually identical to World War II style).
Lots of new skirmish options- including a new free-for-all mode with custom designed maps; the new Chaos faction looks nifty in skirmish and two new heroes for Last Stand is very welcome. And all fully compatible with those playing on the unexpanded version, who get the new units (though not the campaign, Chaos faction or new Last Stand Heroes) all for free (though that's a 2.5 gig download- one heck of a patch!).
Best expansion set I have seen in a VERY long time. If only they would improve the sodding AI!
Although... MY traitor reveal didn't make any sense. He'd spent the whole game not only helping out, but also LOOKING for the traitor, i.e. himself. The traitor was revealed thanks to evidence HE provided. Not the smartest bad guy I ever met. Almost anyone else would have made more sense. Heck, it being ME would have made more sense. That would be awesome, actually, if it turned out to be you.

Hehe. Mine actually quite a bit of sense. Thaddeus was all lying low and quiet most of the time.
