put news in terminator forum as well
This place is much better than the threads to discuss what constitute's ring-out and what doesn't.
I still hold that if someone teleports out of sight specifically to win a fight, it's not ring out. For instance: Vader throws a big piece of metal (he's in the Nakatomi building), with TK, at Griffin (Jumper) and Griffin teleports to france to grab a European Mini Cooper and teleport it right about Vader's head. How is that ring-out? In fact, that entire sequence can take place in far less than 5 seconds. Yet, it's ring-out?
Smells like a gimp to restrict Griffin like that.
I will never be convinced that it's a major gimp against the teleporters when that's exactly what was shown how they fight in the movies. I think we've lost sight of the spirit of a Movies Versus Forum and we are focus on rules. How is going directly against how a character was shown fighting in the movies, in keeping with the idea of a MVF?
After discussing this with the other VS Forum mods, I have decided that if these reasonable rules work in a comic book and video game versus forum, then it should work very well for a movie versus forum:
Leaving the field
Combatants who leave the field of combat on purpose and stay gone, because they have no hope of a win, forfeit the match. If they are removed from the arena against their will (being punched, thrown, teleported, etc.) and can make it back under their own power in a reasonable amount of time, then they are still in the fight. Obviously, if a combatant leaves the field and cannot return under their own power, then they have lost.
Concerning teleporters: If they leave the field, but come back to the field for a tactical advantage, then this is acceptable. Limiting the range/potential of a teleporter is a major gimp. If the ability is within their powerset, then it should be allowed.
No outside help
Unless specified otherwise, no contestant may call for outside assistance, even in scenario matches. For example, Chewbacca cannot radio for Han Solo's help during a fight with a Rancor, or Rorschach can't call Nite Owl for help in a fight with Daredevil, etc.
(Yeah, I know. These are Digi's rules, and I paraphrased them. Sue me.)
I am not trying to gimp anyone for any reason, least of all spite. I am trying to even out the playing field and make things less hectic. If they have the power then, by all means, they should use them.
Discuss.
