STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Runaway

Started by Captain REX47 pages

Trax cannot hear you on the other trash pile.

Moving up! You clamber your way over the trash and into the next section of snipers.

Trax snaps an attack, finishing off the injured sniper and then blasting down another. And he can go again, with another snap! He spends a Fortune point on one shot to blow away a sniper, then kills a sniper on a 19 in the third section.

The snipers fire! Trax has cleared out many of your attackers, so the two snipers gunning for you miss. The Sniper Captain, however, scores a direct hit! 9 damage, taking you to 67 and a -2 penalty!

Trax takes 5 damage from a glancing sniper shot, then tries to dodge the Mercenary... and he spends a Fortune point on his dodge! Unfortunately, it only minimizes his damage; the Mercenary still hits with a 17 and a 20. 15 damage as the bolts rip into his armor, and he takes a -2 penalty.

Things are looking grim, here. The snipers will shoot again, before you can strike!

And for the record, with Carnival of Carnage active, no need to super-snap. Your snapped attacks take a single frame as it is.

Xavier will use defend for defense, and them make another Master Saber throw to try and take out the three closest to him.

Pulling a risky maneuver, Trax moves into cover while snapping a blaster attack... and he shoots down the last two snipers! Leaving you clear to perform a normal dodge against the Sniper Captain.

But his cover is ineffectual against the Mercenary, who blasts him for 5 damage more while descending down the junk pile... -3 penalty for Trax. However, only one sniper manages to land a hit, for 6 damage... and a Death Check for Trax... uh oh, failed! That last sniper shot strikes him squarely in the side and breaches his hazard suit!

The Sniper Captain misses when you deflect his shot to one side, then throw your lightsaber out ahead of you. Even with penalties from the bulky suit and your injuries, your lightsaber spins about and cuts down the three snipers!

The last three snipers and the Captain are going to fire at you, and taking a defensive action will put the Mercenary ahead as well...

Is there anyway xaveir could use Combat push to throw one of the explosive canisters into the 3 remaining snipers?

No. As they are atop the trash pile, that would require Throw.

Xavier will use Defend for defense and see what happens. Strike the closet pirate with a snapped attack if I must.

1, 16, 1... all misses! The trio of sniper shots bounce off your lightsaber harmlessly, as does the Sniper Captain's blast (a 4).

The Mercenary continues his descent down the trash pile... you are not sure what he is up to. He has actually put his pistols away.

You are acting even with the snipers. Pool refreshes in three frames... might want to use some of it to increase your chances of finishing this on top!

Xavier will use Twirl snapping the attacks!

Defend for defense.

Once he has moved up to the next round of snipers.

You cannot snap a Twirl. You would be better off snapping regular attacks!

Moving up, you are nearly to the top of this trash pile, lightsaber flashing as you remove some scrap from your path with a flourish and end up nearly atop the snipers! They cannot use their sniper rifles in close quarters and so drop them, pulling wicked knives to engage you.

1, 12, 14... as they close in, they each try to take stabs at you. With the first two, you interpose your lightsaber so that they cannot get a hit in, but the third is daring! His knife scratches against your hazard suit... for 1 damage.

The Sniper Captain has better luck, scoring a hit for 5 damage that takes you to 73 damage and a -3 penalty... but not quite the Death Check yet. After that, the Captain disposes of his sniper rifle... he knows that he is next and draws a vibroblade.

Pool refreshes.

The Mercenary has reached where Trax has fallen, wounded. With a chuckle, the Mercenary delivers a swift kick into his side, but keeps moving down the trash pile and into the groupings of chemical cannisters.

Is there anyway I can combat push the canisters to blow up with the Mercenary in them?

If not then snap attacks on all the pirates and Defend for defense.

It would have no effect other than knocking over the cannisters... so we will go with the snaps!

Factoring in the penalties of the armor, the quickness of a snapped attack, and the injuries you've sustained in this fight, Xavier is attacking with a skill of... 8. Eep. But the MKP of Carnival of Carnage and the Lightsaber raise it back up to 12... not as scary.

The first attack rolls 19. As one of the pirates comes at you with his knife, you sidestep him and remove his hand holding the knife. As he cries out, you swipe your lightsaber through his chest and move on to the next pirate.

Next, a 2. Hmm. That is a miss... but Xavier has Level 4 of Carnival of Carnage, so we can blow one of his re-rolls! The 2 becomes an 18! At first it seems as if the pirate will escape the arc of your lightsaber, but you simply spin about and bring it around again. You cut him in two, shoulder-to-hip.

Last, a 4. Also a miss, but a 16 on the re-roll! You cut the knife out of the pirate's hand, then run him through.

"Come on, Jedi!" the Sniper Captain shouts, twirling his vibroblade as he lays in wait.

How far up are these trash piles. If say someone was force pushed off of them would it kill them? If so then that is what Xavier will do.

If not then Xavier use Saberthrow to finish him off. Dodge the any attack coming from the mercenary.

Fling is what you would need to bodily toss this fellow off of the trash pile, and it is generally assumed that your victim has the opportunity to haul himself up after being tossed around like a ragdoll... but as of yet such power is beyond Xavier. His focus is on the lightsaber, after all.

And so it is the lightsaber that you hurl at him with deadly accuracy! Your last reroll for this sequence is used on this super mook of a Sniper Captain, a 13. Your lightsaber cuts into his side for 27 damage, and he stumbles as he takes a shot at you. 3 damage! At 76 damage, you Death Check... pass!

It is a simple thing for you to perform another Saber Throw. On the return of your weapon, you simply guide it back so that it cuts through the Sniper Captain's spine and he collapses, dead.

Damn, that did not go as well as you had planned, Xavier.

The Mercenary is climbing the trash pile toward you.

Xavier wastes no time with this fool. He immediately begins to use his force of will to squeeze the Mercenary until he can no longer fight.

Using Grip defend for defense or if my Saber's not back Dodge.

As the Mercenary ascends the trash, he suddenly stumbles and reaches for his throat as you reach out and grip his throat with your powers. He chokes as he lifts into the air...

"Please... stop..." he gasps, one hand on his throat, the other hand held out towards you.

"Who sent you?" is Xavier's only reply to the Mercenary. and it is a cold as if his heart is ice."

"Lord... Friste... of the Sklaboreans!" he chokes out. "I can... take you... to him!"

Can we trust him?

"For now we have no choice....

Remove all your weapons and then I shall release you."

He can do no such thing while you have him Gripped. He is incapable of action.

Xavier let's go of his Grip but keeps his hand ready in case he tries anything funny.

"Remove all your weapons before we change our mind."
