STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Runaway

Just some place from here where we can regroup while Trax recovers and gets to work on figuring out the location of the pirate base.

Are you going into Republic space or remaining out of bounds?

Xavier will remain out of bounds for now.

You spend enough time with guidance from Trax to make sure that the nav-computer does not launch you into the heart of a star or something horrid like that, but the coordinates are random and you jump away...

... and end up at some planet later that day, only named by its coordinate designation. Sensors indicate that it is able to support life but is largely uninhabited except for a smuggler's port. Probably a good place to lay low until both you and Trax are in better shape.

Then let's go there.

You manage to secure a docking bay and simply wait it out until Trax is rested enough to discuss the next move.

But before that, he does have a more pressing question.

"Who was that man you fought?" Trax asks. "The pirates were undoubtedly aligned with Frost, but I had never seen a man with similar talents working for the Pirate Lord Svidrigailov."

Does Xavier know anything about the man?

Now that you think about it, the name that he gave, Xorn Elias, does sound familiar. You never knew him personally until he tried to kill you, but you know what he did.

Xorn Elias was a Jedi student, like yourself. The events leading up to his fall to the Dark Side are vague, but rumor has it that he stole forbidden Sith texts from the Archives. Later on, he accompanied his Master and another Jedi that were sent to recover a Sith artifact that had been found. The Council wanted the thing destroyed, but Xorn apparently felt some attachement to it. After the Jedi got the artifact onto their ship, Xorn sabotaged his own vessel and it crashlanded. Those who found the ship said there were no survivors, but Xorn contacted the Council and told them what he had done.

And then he vanished into the Outer Rim without a trace. Sightings of Xorn indicated that he had become a mercenary for hire.

He is identifiable by a sizeable scar that runs down from his right eye to the back of his neck. His appearance is also based off of Ryan Reynolds but with long hair pulled back into a ponytail.

But you are not sure why Friste would be dealing with him.

Xavier relays what he knows about Xorn to Trax. Then says out loud, "Why would Friste deal with Xorn."

"I don't know," Trax says. "What is it that Xorn stole?"

What did Xorn steal Xavier thinks to himself.

What Xorn stole was a Sith artifact known as the Key of Mortez. You do not know much more about the artifact than that, but its namesake...

Mortez was a Warlord under the employ of the Dark Army, during the last great war with the Sith a thousand years ago. He was not a Sith himself, but a talented military leader. Under the direction of the Sith, he assembled an army of mercenaries and hammered them into a lethal fighting force that subjugated numerous star systems before the Jedi struck back.

Mortez eventually vanished without explanation, as had his army.

Xavier relays his knowledge to Trax.

Trax doesn't know what to make of it, but figures that if Xorn stole something that was important to the Jedi, maybe Friste wants to use it.

Which makes it that much more important we find him.

"Having missed our chance at Raxus," Trax says, "there aren't a whole lot of options left. Svidrigailov didn't use outposts, he did everything from his ship..."

Trax thinks about it a moment.

"There is one place we place we could try, but... the danger is extreme. It's an awful risk to take."

Extreme danger did he say? Sound like an opportunity to me

"That is not the point," Xavier says to himself and Trax. "With the danger Friste poses we do not have a choice. So where is it this place."

"Well, Svidrigailov had a lot of wealth and supplies from all his raids that he pulled," Trax says, "but he didn't keep it all on his ship. He had a planet pretty far out that he deposited it all on, called Alouloth. I'm sure the coordinates are in the ship, but... it being his treasure planet, I'm sure it is heavily defended."

"Very well if that is the last lead we have then we must take it," Xavier says not caring about the danger that awaits.

"I'm not going with you into his lair," Trax says. You can sense his fear.
