Sorry, but you sound as Russian propaganda right now! I think it is obvious that Russsia is last country in Europe with imperialistic tendencies. There is wide sentiment of mourning over the fall of USSRR( and many Russians still think Stalin was the greatest russian leader in history!) and countries close to Russia still feel threatened. Why do you think Polish, Lithuania, Lativian and Ukrainian Presidents are going to Georgia right now to bring their support? Because they know that we( I am Polish) could be next.
Where the hell did you get this ridiculous claim of Russians mourning USSR from? Did NATO tell you to say that?
Please, don't bore me with the same old anti-Russian propaganda.
It looks like you're more nostalgic of USSR than Russians could ever be, since you so willingly decided to enter EUSSR and NATO.
Russia has NO imperialistic tendencies. This is the same old crap being fed by people who are under impression that the Cold War is still going on.
Russia has been treated like defeated nation since the Cold War. It was slapped around the face one too many times and considered inferiour.
What you're withnessing right now, my Polish friend, is Russia tipping the power balance. Putin is not Yeltsin and his aprentice Medvedev is not either.
Yeltsin was pushed and shoved around - and like that wasn't enough, the poor man was ridiculed and laughed at.
Well I guess Putin and Medvedev are having the last chuckle.
Georgians should blame Saakashvili for this mess.
And Stalin was Georgian, not Russian.

did people want to fight ww1?(really, did they? I've always been taught it was a geopolitical situation like this that just escalated before anyone could stop it)
Indeed they did. Everyone wanted to fight the war that would last until Christmas- there was a great enthusiasm for the fight...at first. The leaders certainly wanted the war, in this case the leaders don't want a war.

Which proves all Georgian are as evil as Stalin! Thus justifying the attack completely.
And in case you forgot to read what the person preciously wrote, they actually said that Russians probably thought Stalin was greatest ''Russian leader''. He was NOT Russian, but Georgian.
The comment has nothing to do with invasion, it is basic historical knowledge.
You (like high majorty in this thread) didn't know where Gruzia was a week ago, and now are experts on the subject.
What is your knowledge of Russia and the area in general?
What are your views on Russia and Kavkaz? You are sure, Russia is evil, Sakartvelo is good? What is Sakartvelo, after all? Where is Kura, what is Ahulgo, who was Shota Rustaveli, who was Bagrationi, where Sveti Tskhoveli, where is Alaverdi and why is it important, who is St. Nino and what did he do for Georgia, what is Tiflis, how to make a Khinkali or Harcho...
My God! Just information information information!
Do we know anything of the area or Georgia (Russia, I know you know nothing about) apart from its a country somewhere near Russia...
If you know jack shit about Russia, at least you must know a lot about country you're lobbying for...right?

My God Georgia other than its a country somewhere near Russia...Or does that not matter, cos the TV will elect information, and you'll hear it then post it here and pretend you know shit.
I've bought history of germany, and another book, history of Russia. Once I finish my history of the Cruisades, I'll get deeper into the names you've just mentionned.
🙂
Kalish is a modern Arab name that is adopted from the term Kalishnakov.
Ibn Al Fewdawiiah - Son of the Anarchist Mother, although I tried to use a tense that allowed "anarchist" to be a "nationality", so, child of mother anarchy or something like that.
Bin Noor, is from light unless I'm mistaken
and blah, Mila Karim (child) mira (the beautiful)?

Its great that you take interest. A lot of people are just not interested in those things. Which is absolutely fine.
Whats not fine is that some claim knowledge or depth of something they haven't heard of until on TV 5 days ago.
I am sure many should at least be aware that this conflict has been going on for decades now, and just because they got to know of it now and heard 2 newsfeeds about it, all of a sudden whats been said on TV MUST be correct.
Hey, I am the first to admit I don't know stuff about boring 2nd world countries, but I do know that the Nato didn't brainwash me and that the "western" media is not trying to paint Russia as the bad guy (I happen to know that, since I do get my information from the Western media...and...well...they don't), so, if some idiot spews that nonsense, I'll comment.

It is ''from light'' you are correct. I translated it litraly, which would be son of light. Im crap at grammar.
I didn't know about Kalish. That is an excellent one. And I like how you made the rest into a nationality.
I was trying to figure out what it was - but I failed.
Karim - generous. (im not sure if the gender is correct in the rest, but never mind 😛)

Enlighten me, how long did Stalin spend as ruler of Georgia? How many Georgians marched under his command and died for him?

Actually I had a pretty go idea of where Georgia was a week ago however I don't think I've made any claims about expertise on the nation or its surroundings.

Limited. I hear they're not doing to well and are having something of a tiff with the Georgians. To which I say "Go Falcons!".

Like between the two of us or humanity as a whole?
