Kicks and punches is not the strength of Aikido. The throws are. And what does it matter how many that use it? It can and is still a highly efficient art. It's a defensive style. Offensive martial arts are more popular, and in many cases a better choice, which is the reason you see less Aikido.

im not trying to sound like an ass or anything. but against people that know how to fight effecticly your not gonna win using only aikido.
Hapkido is a much better choice sense it utilizes aikido move but in a much more realistic trining manner and also alot of offensive techniques

But you miss the point. Aikido tries to confuse your opponents ground work in order to catch him off balance and trigger his weak points, and then grabbling him and immobilizing him.

That's the thing, an experienced master won't be fooled and contain his footwork. But the chances are, if you mastered Aikido you won't meet many people you have to defend yourself from that will be so skilled.

That doesnt explain how wielders of Aikido last in martial art contests.

It permit you anything from disarming and disabling an opponent to go as far as breaking his limbs (and if used by an hostile wielder, severely injuring the neck area)

problem with that is that alot of street fights arnt going to be that predictable, and gennerally you have be really good at it to be effective and even then. a person with moderate skiil at being effective in fights your not gonna win with 100% defense

Ok, now this is where I can jump in! 😄

You see, the problem I have with street fights is how unorthodox and slow it is. No skill or technique whatsoever, making you much more vulnerable to skill. Muay Thai is pretty effective with skill and knowledge on defending yourself from inept punches and kicks. One kick KO in other words. 😉

In conclusion, street fighting is a joke. Any martial art can over come something that contains little to no skill at all.

Most street fights are slow? I really don't think so...

It's not a "Hey, you wanna street fight to see who's better?" thing. In reality, It's when someone is going to try to beat the shit out of you because you said something to them. and it's quite fast. Which is why I think you need experience just as much as you do skill.

Although i fully understand how effective the offensive styles ar in street fights. Aikido doesnt really cut it, and the people you watch fight must suck if its slow, but i guess it depends where you live cuz you still be skilled and be a streetfighter

Any martial art is slow if you lack the technique to use it 😛

What I am trying to explain is how easy it can be defended against with the use of skill because Street fighting is probably the most vulnerable to it. With experience, Street fighting should be obsolete.

street fighters can have experiance too, street fighting can be against any body of any skill range of an experiance

I see where your heading.

Most 'street fighters' are just people pumped up with adrenaline who are going to try to punch you. They have no skill, and no strategy or counters to use what so ever, so it's pretty easy to get them down if you know how to use a martial art.

i'm just saying that reality sucks and the guy you underestimate could kick your ass.

When you started speaking of Aikido, I youtubed it 😛 Here's a cool video:

I don't know. I don't think a skilled person would try to pick a fight with just anyone out there on the streets. If anything he will 'pussy fight' you and start getting all in your face and screaming "YOU WANNA FIGHT? YOU WANNA FIGHT?"

lol thats brazillian ju jitsu
