Some of your statements were false since you based them off of false information in the comics (the comic was false). Canon doesn't necessarily equal validity. Logical canon equals validity. It's simple, Thor was becoming more powerful by the second,
regardless of what that means in specifics, it definitely still means,
he's becoming more powerful by the second.

The Power Gem had a history before Thor's madness,
and it was capable then, of what it was capable of during the WM Thor saga,
so I don't really see what is so false about what took place on panel.

Also, imo, fully harnessed Power Gem destroys Supes.
