Denzral thought for a moment, then with a suddeness, directed his attention to the Colonel. "If we were the cause of such an action as official Jedi of the Galactic Republic, then we would not bring to harm helpless civillians. However we are here now to hopefully prevent such an atrosity." Denzral used scan to get a feel of the Colonel's standing on the subject emotinally or second best. "Colonel I strongly suggest you to listen to, if not Xeth, then me, Vlad, and Jovan as official Jedi of the Republic. We do not wish to impose in any way, but we have the welfare of your people at heart."
"Colonel. You seem like a very respectable, revered, and duty full individual. I think that you too, would agree, that you do not want this planet invaded. Would you really want to put this at risk? The fall of the whole planet would be on your consciousness, it would be your fault. The deaths of hundreds of thousands civilians"
Do NOT accuse or insult him! Bad move! We don't want him to dislike us, we're here to earn trust and make friends and save lives, not piss off this important individual.
So Xeth will cut Vlad off after 'risk?,' not liking where he is going with that.
"What has your contact in the Serpent said of us?" Xeth asks.
"That you are, at base, not unlike them- a completely independant organisation funded by charters from third parties. And that they think they can deal with you as they have dealt with others."
The Colonel takes a seat behind a desk.
"Several of you have commented on our defences. They are indeed strong. Do you know why they are this way?"
"I have had... entanglements with the Hutts, I am aware of several fleets that they maintain or fund, to carry out raids on rival Hutts, to cause distortion, to pirate the local systems. I have seen the work of Hutts. How ever, what you are facing is far more organised, probably in the know of all or most of your defenses, and definately far more deadly than any fleet the Hutts or other pirates would send out."
"Somehow I doubt that. The world that Hutts and Pirates inhabit is a vicious one of death and violence. Their fleets can overwhelm entire worlds, and a world such as ours is very tempting for them.
"That is why all the nations of this world co-operated for the global defence project. Our defensive network is so strong as to deter any attacker. Especially a bunch of penny-pinching merchants."
"What you need to keep in mind is that this is going to be a droid army. Droids have no feelings, they are going to do whatever is ordered for them to do. They are all probably going to be linked to one system, and their movements are going to be VERY organized. A single flaw or break through in your defenses is all it's going to take"
"You would be very suprised." Denzral remained straight faced, supressing a smile. (What are we trying to do anyway? No matter what we say or what the Colonel does, we achieve nothing. The planetary defenses stay the same, the defense forces would not be alerted to the imminent attack, and even if they are, it would buy them only a few minutes of extra time but the Trade Fed's will find their way in right, we are here to investigate not interfere with a planet that believes it is beyond the laws of the Republic. If that makes any sense let me know)
"We cannot pretend to know how the Union intends to invade these impenetrable defenses," Xeth says. "We just know that they are coming. Cirus Cannes, head of the Union's experimental department, explained that he wanted to stimulate industry on a planetary scale here. I am not sure what he meant by that, especially as Alura is already highly advanced with its industry."
Does the Union actually have any way to mount a surface attack that Xeth knows of?
As for motives, Xeth will try to explain the situation with the Cult of Charaeus, how the Techno Union was using them to raid shipments of mechanical parts (that they themselves had sent) and construct a droid army outside of the Republic. Presumably the Union wants to establish themselves on a world outside of the Republic in order to have a planet from which they can construct more armies, in preparation for an attack on the Republic.
"It was explained to me as a desire for a garrison," Xeth says.
