You did indeed. Basically the enemy position at the Guns is very strong (indeed, the battery commander thinks that if they rushes forwards now with the tanks they would probably win, but he thinks the strategic programming on these droids is cautious and, quite literally, always by the book). But it's not a matter of defeating all of them- only about destroying the Hailfires, that is your only victory conidition. This will allow the main guns to keep on firing long enough to make a difference.
So your main job is to tie up enough enemy forces so that someone- be that someone flanking or Wentar in his fighter- can level the Hailfires.

Vlad makes his cut! The fight is on!
The tree comes down, sending many of the droids running (meaning they do not fire at Vlad yet, but they will start next turn), and actively crushing three of them. Good start, and their attention is entirely focussed towards the front side where Vlad is now...

Perhaps a bit more forceful, Jovan? Vera was trying reason and empathy earlier; this is more a case of "Come with me if you want to live". It's harsh but is what is needed in crowd control sometimes.
Meanwhile Vera should be trying an Intimidate approach on the crowd leaders Jovan identified...
