"I realize that," Gallagher says. "This is why the weak and the poor and the starving are as nothing. They do not have names... but they rely on those with power to do right by them. And... well, they don't really stand much chance if things continue the way they do. Do you think the Poverty Commission will achieve anything?"

"I have some ideas in that area. I have not brought them here for nothing, after all. But it takes a lot of effort, to effect Galactic change so.

"You cannot save them, Gallagher. As a Jedi, it cannot be done."

Gallagher narrows his eyes, putting his eyes in shadow in the dark recesses above the banquet.

"And it can be done with the Dark Side?" Gallagher snaps. "The Dark Side brings nothing but unbalance and chaos to the Galaxy. It cannot do right by anyone!"

"Oh but it can, and absolutely by anyone! I say this as a certainity. For the same reason the Jedi cannot stop my plan, they alsoc annot save those countless billions. And this is because, due to their Light Side tenets, they would deliberately deny themselves the power to do so. Their enemy in this case is not ana rmy of robots or sabre-wielding maniacs."

He points down below.

"It is they"

"I very much feel that you are not going to use your dark powers to persuade them to do your bidding," Gallagher says. "That is not how the Jedi handle threatening armies or Dark Jedi. Do you plan to kill them all?"

"What could that possibly achieve?"

"You're right... that would do very little for you," Gallagher says. "But you cannot possibly persuade all them to follow your will."

"Using the Force? Of course not."

Gallagher thinks upon what he knows of Sienar, how he uncovered the Dark Master through the schemes put into practice at Spiridos with aspidrol smuggling.

"Bribery, then," Gallagher says.

"Extremely helpful... if you have the money in the right place. harder than you might think though. You cannot just offer every Senator a million credits in a big sack to do what you like. Aside form that juast making all their subsequent prices extremely high, that level of corruption really wuld be noticed. In the end, specific instances aside, there are better ways to spend your money.

"I do intend something though- but like everyone else, you will have to wait for my speech to find out what."

"What if I wanted to make you tell me now?" Gallagher asks. "What is stopping me from cajoling that information from you?"

"You'll never 'cajole' me," says Sienar. "Do you wish to force me?"

"I need to know what you are planning!" Gallagher says. "You will only play word games with me if I ask, lead me into conversations of power and who has it and how to use it. I know that I possess great power, power enough to possibly contest yours."

"Your powers are feeble next to mine- surely I have shown that already."

"But you are frail and weak!" Gallagher says. "You do not possess the strength and power that you did before the infestation that slowly destroys you."

You think you see him smile inside his shrouded hood.

"Judge me by my body, do you?"

Gallagher pauses. He remembers Master Yoda's teachings, that it is not through the body that one should judge. Yoda himself is tiny compared to most Jedi, and yet he holds more power than many of them. Gallagher himself knows that his own power is great despite his physical weakness, despite the scars that Sienar left only years ago.

"No," he finally says. "But you are aligned with the Dark Side. Have you not read your history, Sienar? The Light Side always prevails!"

"And well you should not. The Force is my ally, Gallagher- and in my pain and suffering I have found new truths that set me far above what you could ever be."

He speaks now not in the pleasant voice of the Abbot, but of the dark-toned voice of the true Sienar, with the slight rasp caused by his ravaged lips and internal areas.

(The Dark Side theme would be playing at this point in the film)

"And I feel you misunderstand history. The truth is that the Light Side... has never succeeded. The Jedi have never created the Galaxy they want. Their struggle goes on forever and will never succeed. Whereas at times the Dark Side has created what THEY wanted, as I shall create what I want. The Jedi have been able to stop the Dark sometimes, but that is all. And they shall not stop me.

"The truth is, Gallagher, that the Light Side is not the natural way of things. The Dark is. And that is no mere rhetoric- and to prove that I give you one simple thing to think about. If the Light Side was the natural way of things... why are the Jedi needed?"

"The Jedi... they..." Gallagher falters. "The Force cannot simply right itself! The Dark Side would still exist without Dark Jedi, but without them it could not spread its chaos as you seek to do now. The Jedi are the messengers of the Light Side, ordained to prevent injustice and right the wrongs of the Galaxy."

"Of course! It cannot simply 'right' itself because it is NOT the way things are- the jedi have to try and FORCE things to be that way! They use their power to compel others to obey the law in an effort to bring about the Light Side. It would not ever happen without them, it would not even get close! You know for a fact that if the Jedi were not there the galaxy would be in total chaos. To bring about the Light Side is an artifiical construct, a task the Jedi can never complete!

He points down again.

"There, Gallagher! There is the natural way of things! Selfishness, greed, corruption, power! A few, a very few of those down there are 'nice' people. They try and do things the proper way. They are powerless and so they can achieve nothing. There is the weakness of the Light Side, Gallagher! Not that it is inherently less powerful- but that it cannot use the power it could have! Being nice gets you nowhere! The idea behind it is all very wel and good... but being nice only works if everyone else is nice as well! But they are not. They are selfish and greedy and if you are nice they will simply take what you have and leave you with nothing, very possibly including taking your life. And so not a single one of those Senators down there can truly afford to be anything but selfish and greedy else they would never get anything done!

"They will die, Gallagher! They will ALL die! You have the power within you to save them. But you refuse to wield it, and so you condemn them. You cannot save me and so they die. That is what your dreams have been about."
