You sensed death rather than dying.

So it was very sudden. Did I sense it coming from the room beyond the metal door?

"I wish," Jelena responds to Andro. "But perhaps Coruscant has had some success in making the trace?"

Has there been enough time for that, Ush? I don't want to leave the Basilica if we don't need to because the answers are here. Perhaps Roan or Sunda can check for us.

You have no idea how sudden it was, Gallagher. It was there before you got here.

Nope, nothing close to enough time yet, Jelena.

Gallagher considers that maybe they should inform his Master what is going on, not sure if he is prepared to handle what is before him. But with Zaland at his side and the secrecy required to keep his family safe, he suppresses his fear.

"I sense death," Gallagher tells Zaland. "Let us be cautious."

Gallagher will use the Force to pull open the door.

"Don't worry," says Zaland, "they can't hurt you now."

The door opens, revealing a scene of total carnage.

Gallagher steps into the room with Zaland, lowering his lightsaber to his side as his eyes take in the sight of gore. The Jedi had taught him that death is a necessary part of his occupation, but nothing could have prepared him for this.

"What happened to them?!" Gallagher asks, feeling greatly uncomfortable.

How many bodies are here?

About six- a variety of Grans, Rdoians etc; all hired guns for the Hutts.

They have been literally dismembered. Each limb has been cut off and distributed around the room; the heads have been removed, and the torsos sliced into several parts.

Suddenly, something that Rodian from before told you comes back to you- about the remarkably neat and clean nature of the cuts used to slice off the body parts of the captrives taken in the underground ear.

"That's about that for the assassins," says Zaland. "Those are lightsabre cuts, yes?"

"Yes," Gallagher affirms. "But... this could not have been the work of a Jedi Knight. No Jedi would fight like this and leave his opponents so horribly disfigured. There is an evil force at work here."

Gallagher opens up his mind to the Force to scour the room for anything he can sense aside from the stench of death that permeates this room.

What does Gallagher know of Dark Jedi?

Plnety of stories- and you know of the possibilities of the Dark Side, of course.

Of course.

"Zaland, there are dangerous criminals loose on Thespia," Gallagher says. "What should our next move be? They need to be stopped, whoever they are."

"Well, what would people such as this do next?"

"Revenge," Gallagher says, worried. "The Rodian I spoke with on Torus, he said that Rundell had kidnapped Kellan as part of the drug war. You don't think they would go after her again, do you?"

"What about their own safety?" he asks. "Can't the man you took identify them?"

"Yes," Gallagher says. "Once they catch wind of his capture they will most certainly kill him, and anyone that stands in their way! Quick, to the holding center!"

"You go," says Zaland. "I must check on Kellan!"

Gallagher will rush to his speeder and take it back to where Rundell is being held, parting ways with Zaland.

Hmm. Well, I hate to say we need to play the waiting game for our information.

Is there anything to what Roan is doing, searching the Synod for answers? He is right, there has to be a reason that Sienar chose the Synod as his means for accruing power. I'm equating it to his status as an important figure politically to the famine crisis and that he needed to use the organization for laundering money right now, but there could be more we aren't thinking of.
