If Superman were to get his own heat vision thrown at him, either it'd hurt a lot, or he'd start absorbing it since it's just refocused solar energy, i.e. Amazo. But you throw a blast of hellfire at him like Zarathos', and he's toast. Literally.
It's been tested, it hurts, but you'd be shocked at how durable he is considering what HV is capable of.
As for Hellfire, it would work, but he's also surprisingly resilient to non-physical forms of attack, so it would take a few shots.
The Gladiator fight works against Hulk. Glads was affected by radiation, and what is Gamma? Not to mention it was a nuclear plant with damage throughout the facility, so there was bound to be nuclear radiation leaks. That's two types of radiation that could be affecting Gladiator.
