Based on powers, Amazing Man is likely 25 pts minimum in his newest/most inexperienced incarnation, possibly beyond caps depending on the degree of powers displayed by his other incarnations. I'm not well enough versed in the characters history to make a fair ruling independently on versions 1 & 2, but based on description, he does just sound like a heroic version of Absorbing Man.

There is no difference here. Amazing Man 2 has none of the high end feats that Absorbing Man does. Has never displayed the level of control AM has. No shape changing. No turning into energy. No magical Absorbtion. Everything that makes the Absorbing Man one of a kind Amazing man cannot do. Hasn't done. in a tourney, If I were to try and pull an absorbing man level feat, i would have to back it up. Impossible.
Martian's a flawed example. There's a few areas where she's specifically been shown to be < J'onn. Notably, telepathy and durability, and the others could only be considered = to J'onn if we go based on potential, because she's never displayed feats on his level. Possible power isn't actual power. In her case, it's not even directly implied. It's possible, but complete speculation. Especially in an area like tp, where she's never shown the ability to use it offensively.

Absorbing Man has Beaten Thor right? I can't think of One top tier Amazing Man has beaten.
Absorbing Man has turned into Water, Mist, Energy right?
Amazing Man can't do that.
Absorbing Man has absorbed Magic?
Amazing Man has never Absorbed Magic. As a matter of fact, Current Am couldn't even absorb the Blast properties of Gog's staff. Just the strength and composition of the staff.
Absorbing Man can absorb stuff to fly.
Amazing Man cannot.
There is a BIG difference between the two.
