This game sure has a nice commercial at least.

This game has a shorter campaign than the previous Halo 3's campaign. What a disappointment. This feels more like a rental to me now.
yeah as dissapointing as this is, especially in comparison to halo 3.... its still going to give me hours on end of gameplay
and no one ever mentions how short the COD games are... i beat the 5th in 5 hours but it was still worth the money
The difference is the CoD games add MP that is not from the game before it.
Firefight looks good but it's a clone of Horde but it's not worth it. For 69.99, I expect a completely new game and not just a 5 hour SP game, one new mode (I heard uses the levels from the SP game) and a portion of the previous game.
If it was 49.99, then that would be cool.
You mean $60 right? anyway i hear there's 8 lvls for horde mode plus 3 new standard multiplayer maps... so its the same amount as last game.
And firefight is supposed to be awesome. I personally can't imagine it being better than nazi zombies from CoD... except for the fact that vehicles are in it
i have it preordered so i'll give some thoughts on it tomorrow

Ouch.
Guess you'll have to wait until the price drops and that probably won't happen until next year. Guess you better hope someone gives it to you for Christmas.
I'm not gonna bother buying this game. I can either go rent it or wait until Christmas and add ODST on my list.

I thuroughly enjoy the game. And the campaign is... what? about 8 hours, versus the 9-10 hour Halo 3?
Personally, I've taken all the Halo games down in single digit hours (except for Halo Wars) and I still consider them all great buys. ODST is no different. I especially like the gameplay of it over the others because you have to fight more conservatively than in Halo 1, 2, & 3, inwhich you can just charge down your foes without any trouble.
And don't forget the Reach Beta. For me, the Halo 3 beta was what made Crackdown worth the full price.

I agree. I beat on about 8 hrs. Seemed fairly easier than other Halo games. Ill start the legendary mode maybe tomorrow. I got all the skulls already. I wouldve preferred the multiplayer disk allowed u to download the maps to any other systems.

I actually find it a bit harder than the other Halos. As I said before, in the other games, you could simply rush head-long into battle, wheras this one you really can't.
The fact that you don't have energy shields makes a big difference, In Halo 2 & 3 you could just rush your enemy, duck behind a rock for a couple of seconds and you would be back at full health rushing the enemy again. Halo 1 you wouldn't be at full health, but you would have a good buffer on your health. ODST you don't have much of anything, except your own health and the slight buffer of stamina, which lasts for about 2 shots and takes forever to recover.
In the other Halos you could relatively easily hold off 2 hunters with an Assault Rifle (or an SMG in Halo 2), wheras in ODST it took me an hour, a myriad of differing weapons, and alot of close calls, mainly due to the previously mentioned "No energy shields" thing.
In the other games if you got a vehicle you were pretty well against the Covenant. In ODST vehicles seem to only make you a bigger target, albeit with a bigger gun, but still...
I'm using stunts to survive in ODST that I never consitered in Halo 1, 2, or 3, simply because they made the games too easy (I.E. using a charged plasma shot and a Plasma/Spike grenade to take out a vehicle).
I am playing it on Legendary right now and enjoying every second of it. That may be why I consiter it harder because I first played through Halo on easy (it was early in my FPS days, before that game I prefered Third-person shooters.) Halo 2 on normal and Halo 3 on Heroic, which gave me a good idea what to expect when I played my Legendary playthrough on each respective game...

That could be it. I played it on normal to get a good feel of the game and do some of the achievements. Im sure ill be using the health packs/stations more as in normal mode I barely touched them.

In Legendary, health stations, Sniper Rifles, and Spartan Lasers are Godsends. And even those sometimes aren't enough...

An 8 hour campaign...What the heck?
That's about standard Halo game length. None of them are very long at all.
