Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Thank you. The only way I can see you really taking a full blood elder of either species down is by their natural weaknesses, severing of the head, or complete destruction.

I have to say that i liked this movie a lot. I liked the visual effects in Underworld 2 but otherwise i thought the movie was shit. So, i wasn't expecting anything from Rise of the Lycans.I watched the movie on a lark and was pleasantly surprised. The CGI and set design were very well done and the acting was quite good as well.

I liked this movie alot, some great moments, and i thought it fit well into the series.

Indeed, I was worried it would be good, but might not keep in line with continuity, but it did. It's funny that people are saying that it didn't fit into the flashbacks we saw when they in fact re-filmed the exact same thing...and gave everyone the same attire, except for Sonja, of course.

I loved Raze, a mere human took on a werewolf with his bare hands, and won.

Raze was badass. Although it was a cool scene, I hate that he got killed off.

Yeah, he was going up against a very powerful vampire elder, it was inevitable.

True that.

Do you think Michael could regenerate lost limbs? I mean, he is stronger than both races, and has their respective healing abilities combined. If he could heal from near death when he wasn't at full power, maybe he could regenerate limbs too.

True, he basically did die, since he had a huge hole through his sternum, I think if you could heal from that, you could heal from anything short of complete dismemberment. Remember when Selene broke of Micheal's wing tip and stabbed him through the head with it? He was still ready to fight, but she blew him up by knocking him into the chopper rotors.

You mean Markus, lol? But yes, he seemed like he's have been able to get through it. He, too was a hybrid, just not in the sense Michael was, so his healing factor had to be a bit amped up too.

I did indeed mean Markus. And indeed, he was stronger than Micheal, he wasn't just a hybrid, but the original vampire, and was extremely powerful before he tasted lycan blood. I'd say he was at least twice as strong as Micheal, but he would have been able to catch up with a bit of time. If it wasn't for Markus/William's dad, then Selene would have been toast.

And just to say, Markus was a vampire dominant hybrid, Micheal was lycan dominant. It depends on what you are first. Since Markus was a vampire, he kept vamp features, like wings and the bat face. Micheal was bitten by Lucien, then Selene, so he was more like a lycan.

I must admit though, I would have loved to see how Lucien's kid turned out, the first true hybrid, born from the mating of a lycan and a vampire.

I think that Michael was closer to being a 50/50 hybrid...but was probably more so around 60% werewolf. Markus was definitely vampire dominant, likely because he for one was the original and first vampire and because he didn't go through the same process as Michael.

Btw, one thing I keep thinking about is if Viktor was said to be stronger than Markus why didn't they give him more feats? Markus pushed a truck into a mountain and grabbed a helicopter down. If Viktor is as strong as they say he should be doing similar feats.

Well, the only real feat was when he picked up Raze and broke his neck, and when he tossed the guy into the stone pillar. Also Viktor might have not been at full strength since he was awoken before it was his time, it was actually Markus' turn to be awoken.

I don't get what the hell you guys are ranting on about.

The hybrid wasn't MEANT to be a means to destroy Viktor. 😕
At no point is that stated, mentioned, or even suggested.

Lucian wasn't on some quest to destroy Viktor in the first movie, he wasn't fighting a war. He flat out states it's not his war. All he was trying to do was merge the species and bring an end to the dichotomy of the bloodlines that started the conflict to begin with.
The baby that he and Sonya had would have been a hybrid and Viktor let it be destroyed because it was an abomination in his mind.

If Lucian wanted Viktor gone, he could have easily done so while Vik was in his slumber. The only Elder walking around was Amelia who was too weak to even thwart a Werewolf thug attack, and the second in charge, Kraven was working behind the scenes under Lucian. So Lucian was most likely well aware of Viktor's status and location. He never made his play because he simple wasn't meaning to.

The only plot hole that the 3rd and 1st movie have is how Vik is seen going to his tomb at a point Selene would have been with her family.

If your contention is that Lucian thought he needed a hybrid specifically for Viktor, than the first movie discredits itself as Selene puts an end to Viks shenanigans anyway.

I'm not ranting about anything, and I know Lucian didn't want war, it was obvious he was trying to make another hybrid. I said I think it would have been cool if we could have seen his and Sonja's child, which would have been a purely half and half hybrid, not lycan or vamp dominate.

I wasn't pointing anyone out here. 😕

I know, I just felt like saying something.

No, Viktor was indeed at full power. He wasn't at full power when we saw him in his more skeletal esque form. That's why he had all the wires and moniters hooked up to him, so that his body was being pumped full of blood until he was fully reconstituted.

pretty much.

Indeed. One thing I found odd was how quickly Markus reconstituted....could be because he had become a hybrid.....or because he was the first vampire....or because they wanted to move the story along. Take your pick. 😉
