And the first movie can't be canon and not have the 2nd and 3rd movies be also when they follow it. It makes no sense. It's like saying Garlic Jr. saga is canon but not Dead Zone.
dead zone has some parts in it that werent canon because in the movie krillin knows who gohan is but in the show krillin asks who is the little guy

Look up every bio and main story arc for superman and tell me if any of his DC bios state his adventures on the cartoon. You would have to look up the animated series bio and then you'll see that it is different from the comic.
