Ripley and The Space Marines (Aliens) vs The Predator

Instead of the Xenomorphs on LV-426, Ripley, Hudson, Hicks and the rest of the motley crew of Space Marines take on the most fearsome hunter - The Predator.

With the exception of the self-destruct device on its wrist, the Predator is armed with its usual gear.

i would go with the colonial marines...if Arnie was able to outwit and defeat the predator...a group of far more technologically advanced marines could also

although some would be irrelevant...Spunkmeyer (what kind of a name is that anyway)

Thing is, the Space Marines had no idea what they were to encounter in Aliens. Is this the same case in this battle?

The Marines had better tech but they were for the most part, idiots.

In the end they all got ****ed anyway, if it weren't for the reactor and the extra ship they would have eventually died on that planet, all of them.

Technically they did all die.

I dunno about this fight though. The Marines do have thermal vision and motion sensors, so I suppose that they in the right conditions they can win at least 6/10 times.

Yautja ftw. Marines weren't too bright in that film.

If the Marines have no idea what they are about to face, they get pwned every time.

The Marines weren't idiots. The commander was an idiot, yes, but the rest of the bunch were well experienced soldiers that possessed great battle awareness. One bad mistake on the part of the commander compromised nearly the entire unit. Just like real life, one bad decision can get an entire unit killed. Also, the Marines were stripped of their heavy ammunition and more powerful weapons during the Alien ambush. Afterwards the Marines were left with a pathetic arsenal which is another reason why the aliens posed such a great threat. The Marines didn't expect what they found on lv426. With a full arsenal and an experienced commander along with proper intelligence on the Xenomorphs, that unit, more than most likely would have been able to eradicate the Alien infestation in that colony. I don't think that the Marines were stupid at all, just that the Xenomorphs were given great advantages and also displayed great intelligence.

Is this match against the Predator the entire Marine unit or just the Marines that survived the Alien Ambush? If it is the entire unit there should be no question that they can dispatch the Predator. If, however it is the four MArines, bishop, Ripley and a gutted arsenal i would say that the Predator has the advantage but the Marines could still take it. The Marines do have motion scanners, so that helps to compensate for the Preds cloaking but with only four Marines and limited ammunition. The Predator probably kills everyone before they know what hit them.

The ammount of ammo the marines in Predator let off could match anything the marines from Aliens could pull off.

And wouldnt the Marines have the same stupid commander in this scenario?

Nah. Gorman's not in this matchup. Too easy of a kill. Apone and Hicks are in charge.

With Hicks in charge I think they have a better chance.

This is assuming Hicks doesn't die first. If Hicks dies first I think that the rest will fall into chaos. He struck me as the most rational out of all of them even Ripley.

Well, again I ask, do they have an idea what awaits them?

I'm sure the type of ammunition that the marines used was much more sophisticated than what was used in Predator. The MArines had smart guns and M41-A's. The Special op's soldiers in Predator had a mini-gun a few assualt rifles and a shotgun. The Marines were in space, so im sure the munitions technology had evolved.

I dont know, i was just saying that an Entire unit should not be judged on the inexperience of one. Even then, if Gorman had proper intelligence, im sure the Xenomorphs would not have been a problem at all.

Gorman wasn't really stupid, I think. He was just incredibly inexperienced; he freaked.

He froze, thats all. When in a combat situation, when with Vasquez, he kinda kicked ass.

Yeah, that look on his face during the ambush wasnt the look of stupid but the look of shock, he did kind of redeemed himself near the end too.
