Yeah, he does.I haven't been keeping up with the Initiative. Isn't he leading that now? He might be representing the Initiative side for the different aspects of Dark Reign here, when things start to go wrong for Norman. 🙂
He's basically what Skrull Pym was to the Stark Initiative atm, with the Hood acting like what Iron Man was to that Initiative incarnation.

To put that more simply; Norman Osborn may be a genius, but he's no Tony Stark.
I love Taskmaster, but really, lose the skull mask.
Udon Studios drew him magnificently during Gail Simone's run on Deadpool and Agent X.

I really love how Marvel makes the head honcho really have a noticeable impact on what he's running. It's quite a subtle yet entertaining little nod.For example;
When Nicky Fury ran SHIELD, you had regular, classic SHIELD as we know and love it. Emphasis on the world army/police force. Typical soldier.
Post Civil War, Tony takes charge. Suddenly we have a more totalitarian way of running things. Some people are mutinous. We have a wider incorporation of Stark tech, with some highly trained SHIELD agents using repulsor tech. Tony becomes top cop. Controversial but still clever.
Post Secret Invasion, HAMMER replaces SHIELD. Osborn takes charge and only the villains and scumbags are happy. Even the man on the street is skeptical. Again there are some noticeable changes to the structure of the organisation. Norman is more like a PR spin doctor than a genuine leader. You see the goblin gliders used by HAMMER agents. Oscorp is now the main supplier
Tony and Nick, love em or hate em, were leaders, they did what they deemed right at the cost of their rep. Norman sacrifices all for maintaining his status and I hope Marvel is smart enough to play this into his downfall.
I think that messing up Dark Reign, one of the best events in recent memory, by having a cop-out ending would be criminal. It'd actually be a disgrace. I think it'll be at least good. The problem is, everything eventually has to return to the bad guys being the outcasts and the good guys having power. That's why it's hard to make an event last.
I'd have it end with Norman retaining some degree of power, or there at least people a prominent, legitimate, legal villain power in the M.U. after its done. Dr. Doom always had this pegged, but he's content to sit in Latveria with a load of Asgardian squatters (Not sure if they're still there, haven't read that far into Thor yet).
I agree with everything else you said, though.
I personally think Maria Hill, given more experience, is going to be a main player in Marvel for a while. I think that if the writers are smart, they'll have her succeed Fury.

For once, we agree on a ton of stuff 😄
Especially Taskmaster's costume. Agent X Taskmaster = pure awesomeness.
I agree that there should be some bad guy with some status at the end, but I don't want it to be Norman. I want to see him fall and hard, preferably by Cap, Spidey and Iron-man 😈 I'd like to see another threat a lot like like Doom, whereby his got some kind diplomatic immunity or something that makes him a mainstay, who can drop in or out of the main stories depending on the need.
Is Maria Hill the strongest female in the Marvel Universe where it actually counts?
She has no powers, but I don't know that I've seen a female with as much tenacity or guts since Elektra was on top of her game. Even then, she's a trained killer.
Don't get me wrong, I don't "like" Maria Hill. I think she's quite a ***** in the WAY she does things (I totally get that these things have to be done), but she's definitely a great character. I think she had a bit of a conscience attack during that Michael Pointer mess in the early New Avengers comics, but hopefully she stays as a sort of bitchy neutral. Leaning toward doing what's right, as opposed to being good.
Nick Fury was an out and out good guy deep down. That's what made Civil War feel great; the heroes, to a degree, were fighting S.H.I.E.L.D. too.
I think Iron Man's gonna have something to do with the downfall of Osborn. They'll probably do a redemption angle.
To sound like a fanboy, I'd salivate if it involved the reformation (At least temporary) of the original Avengers, with Cap coming back. Though I think it'd be honourable of him to take on a new identity and let Bucky keep the mantle. That'd be a really touching, evolutionary move on Marvel's part I think.
I just hope that like with the Matrix movies, I'm not sitting here getting excited about how they'll end it, only for it to be utter shitballs.
I haven't been reading EVERY Dark Reign series. I haven't read War Machine, The Punisher or the Elektra/Hawkeye mini-series', but I'll just get the trades of those.
I must say, I think Bendis has really done an amazing job with all this stuff.
Most awaited, for me personally, is to see how Deadpool (My favourite character ever) is involved. He's pretty much gone off to attempt to join the X-Men and that's where we're at right now. We saw them joking about Deadpool in Dark Avengers #9 (That's a non-spoiler, nothing's revealed), so maybe he'll have an impact in this.
I must admit, I have to give Marvel credit here. I was bitching about event fatigue, but without Secret Invasion and Civil War, we'd not have this saga.

Apart from the fact I liked Civil War, I agree.
I think there's a good chance we will see Clint Barton resume his old Hawkeye status post Dark Reign. Bendis has really made him a key player in all this. One of the quotes when Dark Reign started up was that "now everyone in the MU will get to know what it feels like to be Peter Parker."
I guess that's pretty much what's happened, and people like Clint struggle with this, so we'll probably see a reemergence as Hawkeye, a rebirthing of sorts.
I, wrongly, thought that Secret Invasion would bring about a unified Avengers, which hasn't happened since disassembled. Hopefully Dark Reign's end will see Cap (Bucky) Iron-man and Thor on one team.
I've kind of fallen behind. Have people in the MU not caught on that this guy they think is Hawkeye is declaring that he's not Hawkeye and is gratuitously killing innocent people, and is occasionally tossing arrows with his hands instead of using a bow (not to mention setting off metal detectors like crazy)?

If by "people" you mean the general public, then no. For all they know, they archer in purple is the same guy who was part of the early Avengers.
The Dark Reign miniseries focusing on Bulls/Hawk-eye looked at Norman struggling to keep a mass murderer away from the public eye.
Originally posted by Darth JelloWell if you think about it. In some ways the closer Norman keeps Lester to him, the easier it will be for him to keep an eye on him personally.
Still wonder why Norman thought it was a good idea to put Lester in the purple suit. I figure if anything will be his undoing, it's that.
And if you're gonna pass him off as someone who better than Hawkeye
I'll probably pick up the list tomorrow but here's the thing about Bulls, keeping him close doesn't help. Bullseye loves raping and killing. If you pay him and keep him goal oriented he stays under control. If you stick him in a uniform and stop him from killing in public and tell him to be a good boy, he's gonna start raping women and killing men, women, and children indiscriminately. It's about as wise to replace Mac Gargan with Kletus Cassidy
