Joshua was a better fighter on the technical side, but McClane has beaten guys that are fancier fighters than him before, this would be no different. He'd take the hits and rely on his epic level toughness to pull him through.

McClane would have taken everything Jet Li had to give, then beaten his Asian ass silly, all by himself too, no need for a side-kick, as Riggs needed.

She got some good hits in, as she was the better technical fighter; she couldn't put him down for the count though. He took everything she could dish-out and he came back and obliterated her, basic McClane tactic displayed here.

The villains in LW2 wouldn't have acted up if they knew what McClane pulled in LW1, so it's a moot point.

If Riggs goes in berserk, he would be killed by Gruber's henchmen early on. Keeping a cool and clear head is one of the reasons why McClane beat Gruber and posse.

Seriously, everything you've brought up has been disproved by either me, Sadako or the odd poster in here, just accept Riggs is a 2nd class supercop compared to McClane.

So Riggs looks sillier. Besides. McClane's shouting down the radio gave his position away, Riggs was all that way away and still couldnt detect McCallister coming.

And think about it.

Riggs wasn't shooting for long.
McCallister must've ripped it speed wise in virtually a straight line in a car and the circled behind to then sneak up on Riggs in the time that he did. (Which would kicked up lots of dust and sand to give his postion away to Riggs.)

And Riggs couldnt see that on a clear day...? With neither the scope-using eye or the other one between shots..?
With observation skills like that he is absolutely screwed in a dark building against the Nakatomi cleaning lady with a Magnum and her trolley of mops and spare toilet rolls....let alone McClane.

At least McClane ambushed in a place with lots of objects, walls partitions etc to be sneaked behind... where getting caught by Karl there was at least reasonable.

The Riggs response is to surrender and allow himself to be electrocuted for a bit.

e: Used his Beretta to chase away the second chopper..
f: Was knocked unconscious outside Rika's apartment...
g: Was told who killed his wife....

j: Took out two South Africans while he was UNARMED....(Admit it, using the car door was COOL)...

Sure, McClaine fell off the jet and blew it to shit, but that has no bearing here. He LOST miserably in the H2H battle. He had his ass HANDED to him. This is what happens when McClaine faces a martial artist, he loses the HAND TO HAND BATTLE. All McClaine was able to do was bite him, kick him, land a couple of body shots, all of which had no effect. Yes, I know his plan was to drain the fuel from the jet, but it's fairly obvious he was trying to win the H2H battle and got PWNED.

We have all seen McClaine getting his ass whupped by Maggie Q. She beat him thoroughly H2H, kicking him out the window. If McClaine had returned upstairs to face her again, he would have been beaten even worse. He had to resort to this to take her out:

(I couldnt find a youtube vid of them fighting, but you remember it. And this vid only shows part of the truck fight scene, it doesn't show where she is kicking his ass INSIDE the truck...and it is dubbed....)

Point 1: Speculative. His badassery and escape powers have seen McLane do fine. His enemies are all dead. He was able to do it while protect the ones he loved, unlike Martin "Dead wives club" Riggs.
