http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o106/bigbran1/Nova_7_025.jpg
Right out of the gate, we see an issue with abhi's interpretation of the scene...
It clearly and plainly says that [b]Matter
would strike it's surface at 150,000 km/s and be crushed under it's own weight... 150,000 km/s is just about half of light speed, however it was never stated that Richie was traveling at that speed, or that Richie would be crushed. Only that the hypothetical random matter [emphasis mine] reaching it's surface {hint hint}would be.So you can manipulate it's gravity. Richard, you need to focus your power reserves {which were at 17%} and FLY INTO IT...
Not fly into it's gravity well... into IT. IT being the neutron star itself...
WHOA! Fly INTO {hint hint} it? What about the whole "crushed under it's own weight" thing I distinctly remember you saying?
So yet another emphasis on flying into the surface of the star itself, this time Richard further corroborates what the WM was stating about matter striking it's surface.
If I calculate your VELOCITY accurately, you will bend the stars abnormal gravity and cause a wormhole event...
Ahh, so there's where the VELOCITY- the rate of change of the position of an object, equivalent to a specification of its speed and direction of motion- comes into play... Velocity... matter... surface... Accurate velocity, bend it's abnormal gravity... AND CAUSE a wormhole event... Putting it all together the implication is, matter traveling at "merely" 150,000 km/s would be crushed striking it's surface, but at the proper VELOCITY, NOVA PRIME would bend the star's abnormal gravity and cause a hyper gravimetric wormhole to form if he were to fly into it... He was flying into that thing at far faster speeds than 150,000 km/s. Hell, Richard is even depicted as still having reservations because he gets the implications of what the WM is asking him to do.
Calculating trajectory. ENTERING THE STAR'S GRAVITY WELL... ACCELERATING...
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o106/bigbran1/Nova_7_029.jpg
In these set of panels we actually see that he's already entering the gravity well. THEN, he turns on the afterburners... He felt some discomfort in the course of this, but he wasn't being "crushed" in the way that Abhi is trying to emphasize. Ultimately, his DURABILITY held up.
SPLASH!
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o106/bigbran1/Nova_7_031.jpgHere we actually see him hitting it, and the "splashing" effect that him striking it causes... Like what happens when someone dives into a swimming pool.
GRAVITY QUAKE! He's TRIGGERED A GRAVITY QUAKE! RIDER YOU FOO...
They get caught in it's wake...
KTHOOM!
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o106/bigbran1/Nova_7_032.jpg
They are now an immeasurable distance away from their point of origin... In fact, the WM has no idea where the hell they even are. Normally, when they create a stargate, they calculate the exit points in advance. However in this case, it had no clue where they'd end up because it was such an unconventional way of making a wormhole, via pure velocity. But it knew that it would work based on it's calculations with relation to the mass of the neutron star and the velocity that would necessarily be required to warp it.
So to recap. Abhi's position is that the feat (to hell with the dramatic build up, dialogue and outcome) is "merely" a wormhole/stargate creating feat that is akin to "Iceman freezing water" (his words, not mine). His speed, power and durability had nothing to do with it. Standard KMC protocol when one wants to undervalue a feat, strip it down to it's simplest form and all.
My contention is that Abhi is grossly oversimplifying what transpired on panel and that speed, power and durability had everything to do with it. If it were merely a stargate creation feat, why the need to risk his life by flying straight into it when he could have simply waved his hands a little and caused it to warp like he did in Annihilation when he created the biggest stargate like, ever....

http://img638.imageshack.us/i/nova03page20.jpg/Is it a perfect scene? No. Everything is not tied up in a neat little bow for us. However what IS clear, is that it is one hell of a feat for Nova either way you slice it. So if Abhi wants to imply that Nova, at only 17% of his power, still has neutron star level gravity manipulation then that's cool. It would still make him one of, if not the most powerful gravity manipulators in comics. At merely a fraction of his full power...
Now, for a little supplemental evidence to support my stance that this is in fact a speed/power and durability feat and was caused largely by Nova impacting the surface of the star.

For further disclosure, of course, this entire thing of it "merely" being a wormhole creating feat (lol) stems from a conversation from 4 or so months ago when I said that Nova Prime could've obliterated that dark moon just as Superman did if he were to fly into it at the velocity needed to accomplish the neutron star feat. Others agreed, then the lowballing started. Hence the emphasis on anything BUT Nova hitting the surface. Up to and including Neutron Star level gravity manipulation at only 17% of his power...

Rider at 17% capacity is still more powerful than his centurion days. Probably even more powerful than when he got his first upgrade. Do you want me to start posting durability feats at those power levels?
You can bet it will trump theirs...
I can't believe ure implying that Drax and Gamora could replicate such a feat with their durability... They don't even have auto shields that's part of Richie's durability to begin with. What ure making it out to be is just straight dumb.
Sigh....

This is just a wormhole creation feat as shown on panel. Unless you mean Rider while striking the surface of the star created a wormhole and surprisingly there wasn't trace of star material when they exit the wormhole. If he actually struck the surface of the star, there must've some star material which would've been carried by creation of the wormhole.

It's simple, Drax and Gamora would have perished in a like scenario. Gamora stood up briefly to the energy of a star; however, she was injured and it took some time for her to heal. I don't know what else it takes to convince you you were completely wrong about this. The Rider feat was ridiculously impressive and it was a physical act.

He showed combat speed when he was fighting ( I forgot her name) the lady that possessed world mind when nova was infected. He also shown combat speed when he fought drax, creating after images etc.... and since you all like to use space flight, he flew light years in a couple of panels on numerous of occasions. I dont know where you're trying to make it appear as if superman fights at dragonball z levels when he dont, he use his speed against bricks just like nova does. It dont be winking out of two parties when superman is fight someone. The thing that you fail to realize is that nova possess speed and he was still blitzed by surfer, the guy thought that he was hit by a damn energy blast which is something that surfer could also do to superman along with many other top tiers.
Nova wasnt being serious in his battle against the thunderbolts but I'm going to leave it like that because I dont care about that battle because I could easily bring up superman and batman fights but I know that its pis.
How weakened was annihilus when he fought nova the second time? 😕
Nova vs thor = nova 4/10
Nova vs wonder woman = nova 7/10
Nova vs Hulk= Nova 7/10 (due to his gravitational power)These are just my opinions due to nova potential.

Hmm. I'm going to go ahead and ask that you refrain from hostility. I am not the cause of your frustration. I think what happened was your realization that Nova indeed performed an impressive feat of speed and durability which you initially down played. Another poster did you a favor by giving you the correct interpretatoin of what actually occurred. None of that is my fault. I weighed in on the matter because instead of being contrite, you remained defiant in the face of truth.
So no, what Nova did was not simply open a stargate via some sort of automatic power, although he can do that as well. The unimaginable physical feat he performed on the neutron start was not remotely akin to "Iceman freezing water." There is no other way to put it other than that you are wrong. Calling people "noobs" and "d__ riders" and calling for help are not proper reactions. You should probably rethink your approach.
Finally, you didn't respond to the point that Gamora was injured when she was came within close proximity with a star. An incredible feat of durability which pales in comparison with the aforementioned durability feat by Nova.
