Diana trying to stop Sentry is intent enough for the lasso to work. It forces all ensnared in it's grasp to experience the full power of the truth, behind themselves, their intent, everything. A full blown psychic napalm on their souls isn't going to happen automatically, but the lasso's influence itself? It's going to happen.
Against her vastly superior combat prowess and lasso use to say nothing of her own physical power? It's actually quite a bit more likely Diana lassos him before he bashes her face, let's not kid ourselves.

It's not going to auto-win against Sentry, but based on what Diana has done and has been shown willing to do with lasso and the beings it has effected, it pushes the match in her favor. That's not bs at the least. There's no reason to assume that Diana won't use the lasso and its power against an unknown foe especially when she has used it on people she's wary of.

Sentry on panel gave genis hell, the collective hell, ripped through absorbing man, morgana, doom, annihilated terrax, thor, mm (nothing indicating void had anything to do with that)... etc, etc.
The only proof that you all can use to down play Sentry was when he was going through a phase and mentally breaking down due to his fear of killing someone or letting void loose.
Sentry should outright annihilate diana and as much as I like Glads, he would get destroyed as well along with Thor as well.

So you're assuming what you think you know about Diana versus on what Diana has done and more than once? Okay. Unfortunately, her comics do illustrate her using the lasso and its power against those she ensnares with it. Full blown soul ravage? No. Peering into the soul of the target and using it's power of truth and compelling to say nothing of how their soul handles the truth as presented to them via the lasso? Yes, definitely.
