The whole property of Batman compared to Watchmen is different though. I don't disagree with what you're saying, but my point is that Watchmen is a self-contained 12-part story, whereas Nolan created his own Batman story and wasn't confined to adapting a single work.I just got back from seeing Watchmen and overall, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was as good of an adaption we're going to get. It wasn't flawless of course, but I really enjoyed seeing some of the elements I enjoyed about the graphic novel on the big screen. I really think that seeing the movie made me appreciate the novel more, not because the movie was bad, but rather because the movie added to my overall Watchmen experience. For example, seeing the movie allows you to hear the pain/detatchment in Dr. Manhattan's voice, films do these sensory things that any medium within literature simply cannot. My one big gripe may come off as nitpicky to some of you, but I thought the ending credit music was terrible, totally didn't fit. Other than that, there were few things I felt were out of place or poorly-executed, and I didn't even really mind that the ending was different. For me, it worked.
The opening credits were pretty badass too.
There's no denial Nolan had far more freedom than Snyder in creating his film, which is obviously an advantage, but even so, he still had some things he had to 'twist' for the purposes of a film adaption- he still had personalities to change, themes to adapt and expand, etc. Snyder should have understood that Watchmen is a graphic novel- it was deemed 'unfilmable' for a reason. It's impossible to directly adapt a visually-based comic into a film exactly in its form; I hate to use the cliched term, but something will inevitably be lost in translation. Rather, Snyder should have taken the plot and characters and interpreted them for the film. It might not be what the fanboys want (shame on him if he gets Rorschach's mask wrong, even in the slightest! kind of mentality), but I'm sure it would be a better film that way.
But who am I to talk? I haven't even seen the film. I'm very glad you enjoyed it, by the way.

I'm so ****ing mad that I can't stand it.
I can't watch Watchmen this weekend. ****ing "18" rating morons. I'm more mature than most 18 year olds, and watched movies that make "Watchmen" look like "The Little Mermaid". And the Air Base won't show it until next week.
I'm so disappointed that it's unbelievable.
I feel for you, mate. As a 15 year old who has watched some of the most violent movies ever made, I can't stand it when some stuck-up conservative tells me that it is inappropriate for me to watch some boobies or all of that shit.
Another reason why the MPAA sucks.
