Watchmen

To anyone that has seen it: I like it, i look forward to the director's cut to see tales of the black freighter, under the hood, and hollis' death and all that but here's what really bothered me.

What the **** was with that weird cut where the third and fourth acts were very suddenly switched? It made no sense whatsoever.

I'm so ****ing mad that I can't stand it.
I can't watch Watchmen this weekend. ****ing "18" rating morons. I'm more mature than most 18 year olds, and watched movies that make "Watchmen" look like "The Little Mermaid". And the Air Base won't show it until next week.
I'm so disappointed that it's unbelievable.

I know it's kind of minuscule, but I'm pissed that they cut out cigarettes from the movie. Oh lordy lordy, not the great vice! It's irritating that they'd take something like that out, only because I see it as them 'taking a stance' on cigarettes.

i like that Adrien got his much more so in the movie than in the book but another thing I don't understand was Bubastis. Was he colored differently in the movie? I'm color blind so maybe it's just my eyes messing with me.

The whole property of Batman compared to Watchmen is different though. I don't disagree with what you're saying, but my point is that Watchmen is a self-contained 12-part story, whereas Nolan created his own Batman story and wasn't confined to adapting a single work.

I just got back from seeing Watchmen and overall, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was as good of an adaption we're going to get. It wasn't flawless of course, but I really enjoyed seeing some of the elements I enjoyed about the graphic novel on the big screen. I really think that seeing the movie made me appreciate the novel more, not because the movie was bad, but rather because the movie added to my overall Watchmen experience. For example, seeing the movie allows you to hear the pain/detatchment in Dr. Manhattan's voice, films do these sensory things that any medium within literature simply cannot. My one big gripe may come off as nitpicky to some of you, but I thought the ending credit music was terrible, totally didn't fit. Other than that, there were few things I felt were out of place or poorly-executed, and I didn't even really mind that the ending was different. For me, it worked.

The opening credits were pretty badass too.

There's no denial Nolan had far more freedom than Snyder in creating his film, which is obviously an advantage, but even so, he still had some things he had to 'twist' for the purposes of a film adaption- he still had personalities to change, themes to adapt and expand, etc. Snyder should have understood that Watchmen is a graphic novel- it was deemed 'unfilmable' for a reason. It's impossible to directly adapt a visually-based comic into a film exactly in its form; I hate to use the cliched term, but something will inevitably be lost in translation. Rather, Snyder should have taken the plot and characters and interpreted them for the film. It might not be what the fanboys want (shame on him if he gets Rorschach's mask wrong, even in the slightest! kind of mentality), but I'm sure it would be a better film that way.

But who am I to talk? I haven't even seen the film. I'm very glad you enjoyed it, by the way.

I feel for you, mate. As a 15 year old who has watched some of the most violent movies ever made, I can't stand it when some stuck-up conservative tells me that it is inappropriate for me to watch some boobies or all of that shit.

Another reason why the MPAA sucks.

You have an older brother ?

uhuh

😐

Yeah, I do sometimes randomly pop-up into threads.

Anyway, how's the movie ?

Honestly, unless one were really in the know on history, philosophy, and political theory, I don't understand how anyone under the age of 20 would really "get" the film unless they read the original novel and had a really good grasp of 20th century history.

I 'got' the graphic novel, as did a lot of under twenty year olds. Honestly, thet blatant underestimation of so many teenagers is infuriating.

I KNOW! My mom says "Well, you can wait until we go to the states in April". THAT'S BULLSHIT. I've been waiting for this movie for God knows how long, and I'm not going to be cheated like this. Now I have to wait next week for the thing to come on Base. Such a heartbreaker, man.

So I'd understand it to a tee. The comic is one of my favorite pieces of literature of all time.
You're just like the MPAA. You completely underestimate teenagers as if they're moronic, which is not always the case.

Good for him. Not like I care, however.

That's very mature of you.

I don't understand...if all you minors are so infuriated that you can't get into Watchmen, why can't you just sneak in?

Actually, it is, considering it's in response to a guy who basically wrote "lulz my little bruther getz ta see it and he'z yunger soo itz funni".
Seriously, either add something inquisitive or thematic to the thread, or step away from the keyboard.
