say this movie last night with high expectations and left un satisfied. Maybe it's because i was never a fan because i've never got into the "watchmen" story. I only knew about them with the mention on this movie.
But my opinion, I thought the movie was boring. i dozed off a could of time and my girl had to nudge me, giggling.
it looked cool. the story seemed interesting, but it just didn't grasp my attention just enough, for some reason.
It had some weird moments in it like when the comedian killed JFK, lmao, i my mind i was like lol wft? And current president nixon?, yet the whole thing looked like it took place in the 1920's yet they were worried about the cold war of the 80's?, haha. That's trippin' And when that Blue dude was in 'nam blasting those VietCong with telepathy with that opratic music. with helecopters behind him while he was what 100 ft. tall.
but i dunno, i would watch it again. i like that roushard, or w/e his name is, character, the one with that looks like a detective with the perpetual ink shifting mask. my favorite quote of his was when he was in prison after they tried to attack him and he splashed a whole thing full 'o scolding hot frying grease on that dudes face and torso, when he yelled something like: You have to remember! I'm not locked in here with you! You're locked in here with me!". half the audience clapped in that part..
Ii looks like a comicbook/movie for adults which is always cool.
I give it a 6/10 for now.
I enjoyed this movie. It seemed more than just the typical comic book movie to me. It gave a slight character development without going too far back and going too much in depth. I feel that ppl get to know the characters and a bit of their origin. The action was great and the slow motion didnt bother me at all. I like the fact that eventhough it was a comic book movie, it stayed away from trying to please the "younger" audience. I say that because there are times where movies that come out and should be a R rated movie, winds up getting edited for a pg or pg13 just so it can be more child friendly. In the process, that kinda ruins the movie imo.
All in all, id recommend this movie to anyone and its one of the few superhero OR action movies that id actually pay money to see again. 4/5 stars for me.

Sure, Watchmen tries to be mature and 'adult' by throwing in lots of violence which isn't entirely necessary, but, honestly, it strikes me as considerably less mature/ deep/ adult a film than The Dark Knight or even X-Men 2 or Superman Returns.
The action sucked, in my opinion. He expanded nearly every action sequence greatly (except maybe for Rorschach's capture, which was shit in the film) yet somehow failed to make them very interesting. The action didn't mean anything, as it did in the comic.

Saw the movie last night pretty badass imo. Thought there were points where it kind of dragged, especially in like story telling parts i.e. the attempted rape scene, and Manhattan's long ass story. Both left me fairly bored. Liked pretty much all of the characters except for Manhattan, he just seemed really boring, his voice always seemed monotone, I guess he was supposed to be like that but I found it incredibly boring, and his blue penis did nothing for me. Otherwise I think Rorschach really made the movie for me though, that guy did an amazing job and came off as the ultimate badass.
Just out of curiosity is the comic worth reading after I've seen the movie? Are there any big differences? Or anything that makes it worth buying?

No. It's a fan made joke.
The graphic novel is a complete 180 from the movie. I highly suggest that you spend $19.99 for the trade paperback and read it.

Was suprised they left out Rorschach's back attack on (spoiler) with a fork, after getting his ass handed to him... That scene really showed his grit IMO.

I agree with Impediment on both points. It was an OK film, quite a lot of good stuff (I really liked the Dr Manhattan on Mars/ origin bits, Rorschach was mostly good) but quite a lot of pretty bad stuff, too (the ending kind of sucked, not at all sure about Ozymandias, they kind of ****ed up the prison riot scene).
I enjoyed it, though. Overall, a decent film. Of course, I couldn't approach it objectively, but I realise it could've been a hell of a lot worse, and it's definitely, in my opinion, much better than the previous Moore adaptions (which were all god-awful, including V for Vendetta).
Watchmen is, by far, the best, and most faithful, Moore adaptation to date. However, that's not saying much.

I don't really understand the bitching about expanded action sequences or lost meaning as compared to the graphic novel. All that's happening there is the movie is playing a bit to the general, non-graphic-novel-reading-public, while it spends the rest of the movie going nearly exactly according to how the book did it. The fact that there's extremely minor changes from the book is a huge step up from the changes that most storylines go through when being transformed from graphic novel to movie.
I guess I feel that while there may be some discrepancies between the movie and book, a film adaption meant to have wide-range appeal couldn't have had a result much better than what we got. And it's still a decent movie.
I saw the movie yesterday. I went in with not very high expectations since I loved the graphic novel and wasn't expecting it to come close. I ended up pleasantly surprised. It was very faithful to the novel, which I enjoyed.
I didn't mind the ending at all. In fact, I preferred it to the giant squid in the novel. I also loved Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's portrayals of Rorschach and The Comedian, respectively. They were the life of the movie to me.
All in all, I don't think it was a better movie than The Dark Knight. However, it definitely felt more like a comic book movie and was more faithful to its source material. Great film.

Well they still used a squid just not the exact one from the Book, Remember Manhatten was working on that thing at the start
