New on the Live-Action Star Wars Show

George is awesome, but he's too ambitious and doesn't necessarily have the skills to back up his vision.

Right now he should just sit back and come up with the basic outline of Star Wars programs, but let others flesh it out.

Never gotten why so many people hate Lucas.

The guy is not a bad human being. He's a filmmaker, and yes, he's made a lot of money. So hasn't every successful filmmaker.

There's alot more people in the world we could be hating on right now. 😉 I promise you, Georgie isn't one of them.

Star Wars has been geared towards kids since about 1982, regardless of media.

In preparation for the first film in 1977, Lucas told his wife he was going to make a film 10-year olds would love. That's never changed.
If he truly just wanted to make a kiddie series, he would have backed off on the dark elements in TESB, ROTJ, and especially ROTS. But the artist in him told the story he knew was necessary.

Let's just hate Michael Bay instead.

Agreed.

I dont disagree that its a kids movie...however...I dont remember poop and fart jokes in Star Wars.

...and Lucas DID indeed back off dark elements in ROTS, saying that they were too painful for him to film.

I didn't know that. I wonder what elements those were?

Pain is something that we all deal with however, even if it was painful for Lucas....it draws the emotions needed to make connections with characters and express the power of film. Whatever he backed out on, I wish he hadn't.

I dunno... I've seen a lot of things in the PT he should have backed out on.

It was the first PG-13 Star Wars film. You think he should have gone even further and make an R-rated film? All those underage kids would have been upset. Had I'd been their age, I would be too.

too painful for him to film? wtf he had no problem showing an eight year boy holding the severed head of his father in the movie prior...

Yeah, but he probably hadn't built a strong enough relationship to the character to really care I guess.

Those elements probably had something to do with either Anakin, Padme or Obi-Wan.

guys, i just heard that the show has been officially scrapped.

I see you still haven't given any word on where you heard this from. Very strange, considering this news article was released today:

Forget that Star Wars kid show George Lucas is reportedly developing: Real fans want to know when that long-rumored live-action Star Wars TV series will arrive in our galaxy.

The answer may be: sooner than you think.

The Chicago Tribune's Maureen Ryan reports that work is progressing on the series, with writers working on scripts for the proposed first season.

... Lucas and executive producer Rick McCallum want all the scripts for the show's first season to be completed before production begins.

"They are working with writers on scripts," a Lucasfilm representative said in response to a query. "They won't set a production date [for Season 1] until the scripts are done."

But work on the unnamed show's scripts appears to be at an advanced stage—which isn't surprising, considering the writing of the live-action show began two years ago.

The show would be set between the eras of Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope, will not feature any major characters from the film series and is rumored to be in preproduction in Australia, though none of that is officially confirmed.

The show is being developed independently by Lucasfilm with writers from all over the world and has not found a home on any TV network yet.

As for casting?

"They met with people in several countries (including Australia) early on but they are not currently casting. They are not going to start casting until the scripts are completed," according to the Lucasfilm rep.

Canceled? I think not.

Me too. most of them were related to order 66, Anakin's role in it, and the death of the Jedi.

Did I say make it R? No. Thank you for your hyperbole.

Maybe he backed out on showing Anakin actually slay the younglings?
Possibly...but then again, that would have been pushing the movies rating.

Or filming a guy being roasted alive...

Is that Temple of Doom?

Then what are you saying? Anything at all, or is this the usual Lucas venting?
