STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Descent

"Yeah, sure thing, buddy," he says. "Haven't seen you around here before, you new here?"

He walks you over to the entrance that you saw earlier.

"Yeah, man, just freshly picked out. Don't want to get into trouble right away, you know." Con will follow him, and get inside as unsuspiciously as possible.

The soldier waves you through; those at the door don't have a problem with it.

You're inside the warehouse! First, you pass through a makeshift coatcheck room, where a few particularly muscle-bound soldiers are collecting weapons and checking people out. They let you pass through without problem, though; your uniform is in order.

Once inside, you are greeted with something reminiscent of the Club Hel scene from The Matrix Revolutions- the warehouse has been sound-proofed and boarded up in order to keep the sound of the massive party within from being heard. In the center of the warehouse is a great dance floor, with lights and sparks flashing about and fog clouding the floor. Around the edges are people seated at heavy marble tables. Overlooking it all is a man hosting it... the Malik of Luon, the leader of the Syndicate (portrayed by Lambert Wilson, he looks just like the Merovingian).

The thieves are not by chance anywhere around here?

Are you going to look for them?

Yeah, I will look around keeping an eye out for them. Perhaps while getting closer to the Malik. Is he heavily guarded or anything?

You cannot properly see from here, but there does seem to be a fair few Syndicate thugs hanging out on the balcony with him.

As you make your way into the warehouse, you spot Medraud and Medraut, the thief twins, sitting around a hookah with a few others and receiving massages from Twi'lek girls. They appear to be relaxing, and in the time since you last saw them, they've grown suave little mustaches to go with their outrageous 70's sideburns.

Hmm, I guess I wouldn't last long if I fought them right now. What about a duel, does my knowledge through savoir faire tell me that duels are practiced here?

Otherwise I guess the only feasible option is trying to get the Malik to surrender, though I don't want to have another three years to spend in servitude. Hmm, perhaps if I slyly assasinate one of them if he goes to the bathroom, though I can't quite see how I will get the artifact back that way, that seems to be the main problem anyways.

You do not think that thieves are very honorable.

Indeed, getting the Votive of Light back from the Malik is your objective here. Bringing down the Syndicate would be nice, but you lack any official backing here. You have simply been gathering evidence for Clarion and the Investigative Force since you are not officially part of their detective agency.

Con cannot make arrests. Assassinations are also not very Jedi-like.

A most daring task. Hmm, perhaps getting into the good graces of the Malik might help me. Hmm, first though I should find out more, do I sense that there's anyone that knows stuff and is perhaps inclined to be talkative to a fellow Syndicate thug like me?

Finding out if someone is knowledgeable would require you to talk to folks and find out who is who.

Well, I'll do that then, try to blend in with savoir faire. Find out what's happening here right now anyways.

Right now the Malik is hosting one of his parties- a social event for the Syndicate. The specific reason for celebration is that Broden Abzi is ahead in the poles for the Cirdare nomination- posters are up all about depicting his pale mug imprinted over the Syndicate emblem.

Hmm right, I wanted to make the other guy win somehow. Hmm, maybe I can put the conversation on the topic of precious artifacts the syndicate acquired?

Oh, everyone knows about the Jedi thing that the Malik stole!

What do they know about it?

That it is a Jedi thing that the Malik stole. He has been looking for someone with knowledge of the Force to help him with accessing it.

Uh, nice. Well, I think I will try to get close to Malik now then.

What approach are you taking?

I will try to walk over there with as little notice as possible (using presence) and will try to get as close to him as possible. So I can talk to him without people noticing, at least not the thieves.
