The Malik smiles.

"Three years ago when they took the Votive, you were there? You must have been young. What have you been up to that you only just reached my court?"

"Want us to ice him, Your Malikship?" asks one of the Medraud twins. Up close, you get a better look at them and particularly their sleek pistols.

"Not just yet," the Malik says.

"I had a war to fight" he replies simply, and looking at the twins adds: "Three years ago I was weaker, and you were lucky, perhaps we can test it some other time"

"Perhaps we can test it right now," one of the thieves said.

You never really got a good look at the thieves the first time- they had killed the power in the Great Museum of Zehat, so it was pitch black when you had your run in with them.

The Medraud brothers look nearly identical- thin faces with hard eyes, dark tousled hair. They wear matching brown shirts with brown camo pants, covered with pockets for their gear. Their gunbelts are lined with pouches; you quite distinctly see pairs of knives.

"Now, now," the Malik says. "Our new friend here said he wanted to help us. Isn't that right?"

"He's a Jedi," the other Medraud says. "He wants the Votive back."

"Let him explain himself," the Malik says, watching you curiously.

"I haven't been a Jedi for years. And not being a Jedi is hard, so what I want is power....and a lot of money. And in turn I am willing to offer my rather unique skills to you, Malik." then he looks at the brothers and adds "Well, and perhaps killing you later, but that has got time".

The Malik merely smiles.

"I am sure that having a former Jedi in my inner circle would be delightful, and you have done much in the name of the Syndicate already... but you understand that I cannot just let you in without testing you, Con."

I have a bad feeling about this.

"Of course. I have already done a few missions for you, Malik. One more should not be a problem"

"This one you... may object to," the Malik says. "I am sure you know Azrakel Joon, yes? The candidate for the title of Cirdare of Luon?"

"I know of him"

"Excellent. Now, I am sure you know that he user to be with the Syndicate, yes?"

"Yes, I wondered what changed."

"That is not important. What is, is that I tire of him. Kill him in any way you see fit and you may help me with the Votive."

"I understand. I will meet you here again afterwards?"

The Malik nods.

"You will not go alone, though. I need to be sure that you actually perform the task as assigned. The Medrauds will go with you."

The Twins sneer unpleasantly.

"I am curious, though," the Malik continues. "You show no hesitation in taking such a deplorable task... why is that? Do you intend to double cross me instead of ending Joon?"

"I have killed people before. I have killed for you before. Whether I intended to double cross you or not, I wouldn't hesitate" Con says, realizing himself that he has done things he never thought of before. "However with the Medrauds going with me you can be sure that the task will be done, can you not? Although I can't promise that they won't have an accident on the way back" he adds, smiling threateningly at them.

"Ah, but this is different. The murder of an innocent man!"

Con knows that is true. He wanted to double cross the Malik, too, talk to Joon perhaps, get him to leave the planet, but now what can he do? The only thing that he can justify it with if at all is that it is for the good of the planet, that he has better chance to make a difference than Joon would, most likely losing the election or being killed by the Syndicate otherwise, he'd hope Joon would understand.

You very much doubt that Joon will agree with your point of view.

There is also the issue of the Dark Side...

Well, on the way there Con could perhaps kill the Medraud's finish half of his "mission" however he would likely not get close to the Votive that way. Maybe if he could discuss it with Clarion, but it is a predicament, but hesitating before the Malik is not an option either way, really.

The Malik never told you when. He believes you need to plan your attack anyway, due to Joon's location.

Oh, well, then Con would probably try to contact Joon and discuss it with Clarion
