What did Kimmel do
It's about the perceived idea that Kimmel and other entertainers ham up their emotions to make people resonate with the things they say more, so pretending to cry and then making a political point off the back of those tears

I see your overall point, but pretending that a major entertainer in America doesn't have quite a fair amount of sway in the social landscape isn't something I can buy. I'd say more people are dedicated to the celebrities they favour over their president most of the time, and that more people listen to entertainers than politicians.

IMO it's just ignorant as f*ck too. When I was in high school a lot of kids did not get their news from CNN or NBC or even FOX.

You wanna know where? The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. So "but he's a comedian" is a lazy excuse.

I didn't pretend Kimmel doesn't have sway. I'm comparing his sway with Trump's, as POTUS.

It's like comparing a chihuahua bite to a pitbull's. Trump's words can sway the market, geopolitics and world opinion of how the US is seen. Kimmel doesn't come close, not even a little bit.

Is actually comparing Kimmel's influence and ability to affect the world with Trump's ability as POTUS. That's some legit whacked.
The POTUS has the reach of the world naturally, but entertainers in America have just as much social sway on a national scale. However, America isn't being judged on an international scale for their entertainers right now, but it is being judged for its president, and rightfully so

Disagreed, both at home and abroad the POTUS carries more weight. How many watch Kimmel? How many watch the President? Not sure why we're having this convo.

Are you being a devil's advocate type because you feel bad for Surtur right now? It's cool if so. You can PM me if you want.

Look I mean...the tears do seem fake to me, but what bothers me more is the misleading information and the manipulation. This, to me, is why it was a valid argument in the days immediately following the shooting that we should not discuss gun control. Because people are far too emotional.

Jimmy tried to capitalize on those emotions in order to push an agenda about gun control, an agenda that wasn't even correct lol. He definitely knows most of his audience: he knows they will absolutely not fact check anything he says.

Whereas my motto is: if you see a leftist on tv talking about gun control...fact check every single thing they say. Gun control is something I truly believe that they believe is important enough that it is okay to lie or manipulate people in order to get it.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with this stance from the evidence we have so far

Lol Rob, this comment pretty much tells everybody all they need to know about you here. Are you so deluded that you truly believe the reason this person doesn't agree with you is to make someone else on the internet feel better?

I happen to think feeding millions of people misleading information is a problem.

You see when Trump does it? The MSM is all over it. "America's conscience" does it? *crickets chirping*
