This is true, though some games were more forgiving than others. However, we didn't have the internet back then, we couldn't look up how to beat a part you don't know how to beat. Yet there are things in some games you'd never know you had to do in order to advance. Like in Castlevania 2.

Contra comes to mind as well as Battletoads. Holy hell I would get irritated with those games.

Battletoads! I have that for the SNES. What a ****ing nightmare. Great first couple of levels, but **** that speeder bike jump one. Impossible.

Great soundtrack tho

Actually I have Battletoads in Battlemaniacs but I think that's just a graphics update for the SNES

Exactly dude, one ****ing mistake and it's back to the beginning of the level. While I thought the game play was great, they were very harsh in design. So unforgiving. I can see how people snapped multiple controllers playing that level. lol

And if you run out of lives, back to the start of the game. ****ing ruthless.

Indeed. Super Ghouls n Ghosts was the exact same way. 1 hit without armor, and no matter what, you start over again. If you beat those types of games, there was no question you were good at them.

I actually own a copy of it, although the cartridge doesn't fit in my SNES and the adapter doesn't work either awehuhs

My proudest SNES possession is my copy of Super Mario All-Stars. Get in.
