He was in the right place at the right time and in a way we(the allies) helped sort of create him. Or rather, we created his path to power. After WW1 we put 100% of the blame on Germany for the war. Yet it was a bit more complicated and we f*cked up the German economy and made the people desperate enough to follow Hitler.That's not absolving him or anyone else of what they did, but we need to look at our roles in how we shaped things and how we reacted.
It really was a wrong place, wrong person, wrong time kind of deal. It was a lesson we have to learn from, in any way we can.

Well it was what we did combined with the great depression that happened in the late 1920s. That is when Hitlers power started to truly grow. So yeah there were a lot of circumstances, but I think we made a significant contribution.

It works both ways – I'll happily claim Churchill a war hero on a European scale, but he was also a bit of a ****bag with his own set of racist, authoritarian stances. He was just the man to defeat Hitler, but as a man, he was pretty awful.
You have to see these things both ways to figure them out imo.
If you have netflix there is an interesting series on there by oliver stone. It gives interesting perspectives on the war and the shady things that were done. Just search for "oliver stone" to find it.
For example, there is the claim that the Japanese would have surrendered right after Hitler died if we would have let them keep their emperor, who they saw as a god. Truman was stubborn though and said no, and eventually we nuked them. Then afterwards we let them keep their emperor anyways.
