They're using the term as a synonym for "leftist", which is extremely incorrect. You're a modern leftist, which is far from liberal by its strict definition. "Liberal" is essentially a conservative stance by modern standards, which by leftist translates as "literally a Nazi".

Them being correct or not isn't my concern, as they're morons. I'm a Liberal and it's not Conservative, though I do have some fiscal conservative views.

Don't get me wrong, big state has benefits. It's just not particularly liberal as a stance. Liberal by trad American conservative standards, I'll grant you, but that really is not saying much
