That’s kinda how I picture Chicago based on documentaries I’ve seen about the gun crime
Looking at the list some non-fatal shootings were close. The closest fatal shooting it seems was 22 blocks away. Actually that is in the neighborhood my family lived in until I was 12.
I was not home for the night of the 4th of July but even if I was I doubt I would have been able to distinguish gunshots from fireworks.
No I don't hear gunshots every day or anything like that. U gotta realize some parts of Chicago are worse then others and even just a difference of a few blocks can mark a radical change in terms of safety and crime. One thing that has kept my neighborhood from getting as bad as some other places is I live near a major airport(at one point it was the busiest in the world). So the city isn't ever gonna let it turn into a ghetto.

Nearly 80 People Shot In Chicago, 15 Of Them Killed, In July 4th Weekend Violence Since Late Fridaycry
The worst part is that there isn't anything to indicate this is anything out of the ordinary, it doesn't say like "worst weekend in the past five years" or anything like that

We did have something like that back in late May for Memorial Day weekend though.
More murders this year during that weekend, while a pandemic is going on, than we had in the past 4-5 years for the same weekend.
