The Romans wouldn't even win against the famously incompetent modern Italian military.

Well this is assuming that the Roman's do not piss their tunics when they see a tank rolling up on them or a gun ship laying waste to an entire platoon of men in a matter of seconds or when their leaders head suddenly explodes from a snipers bullet.

Seriously, any generals who are probably educated in tactics going all the way back to the Roman Republic should be able to handle anything the (Time traveling?) Romans have to offer.

It was greatest in terms of populations and land coverage (Mongols can f*ck off). But the Romans were just awesome.

Yeah, Rome lasted much longer and contributed much more to humanity, although Britain DID end up creating most of the countries in North/South America, as well as spreading the English language.

The possibility of the US fighting Rome will never happen, it would be far more plausible for the European Union to march on Iran (and win) led by Germany.

Rome alone? pfft.

That's not an advantage at all.

The only possible way to win, for the romans, is if the americans are equipped like the romans.

Other than that, it would suck to be a roman. ONE MAN from today, with a chain gun, would mope the floor with an entire roman unity. He wold cut them in half, and finish them with a M-16.
