No idea. But I'm fairly certain that that was the initial reason; his subsequent "socking" and bashing of moderators, particularly REX, didn't help his situation.

I'm all for giving him an account back on the condition that he sticks strictly to the argument. I rather like Nebaris when he's not trying to be obnoxious.
