No, but I do find it cute that you're trying to assert some misplaced sense of autonomy with me.
You're not really your own person, DS. I realize you've been under constant attacks from detractors over the years as being nothing more than an underling of mine, but I would have thought that you were happy with your station.
You remain, as ever, something with which I amuse myself. And when it comes time to replace you, I shall dispose of you in the proper Jewish style.
That is to say, I'll put you in an urn.

What is my "station" exactly? Misplaced sense of autonomy? It's called a joke Gideon. I realize you're not getting laid because of too much World of Warcraft or Might and Magic, but that's no reason to get defensive over a small joke, unless of course it's true and you don't want anyone finding out. You're not known to blow up over insignificant things, so I'm going to assume that you're joking.
And I consider myself more of my own person than anyone on this forum. You'll of course have to prove how I'm not my own person, so I'll wait.

You claimed I'm not my own person. Since you like to correct people on the rules of debate, you'll do me the honor of practicing what you preach, and proving this assertion.

No, but it is weird that you constantly reference my girlfriend...I think we can safely say that notions of you having either a healthy social life or a healthy sexual life are simply not true.
Perhaps Nai's blow doll theory was correct?
No, my social life and sex life are both good, but I'm like 007, I prefer taken women over single ones. And to be fair, I think Nai was just projecting his own insecurities.
But to quickly answer, when Palpatine ascended to Galactic Emperor, he began a galactic-wide search and acquisition of Force knowledge that he was unable to do prior due to the demands of his station; he was forced to maintain a low profile so as to avoid detection. As Emperor, he was the highest authority in the galaxy and, according to the Dark Empire Sourcebook, gathered the works from over a million worlds and studied many Force cults. He achieved an unparalleled mastery of Force techniques, thus increasing his power significantly relative to his prequel trilogy days.
However, even though he gathered works from other force cults, what kind of TREMENDOUS power would that gave him? He was a sith and had access to all knowledge from a bane's order with 1000 years of existence, so what kind of incredible knowledge other inferior cults would gave to him? Are you telling me that the witches of dathomir had more knowledge about the dark side then the very SITH ORDER? While I could possibly think that Papatine MAY got stronger, I hardly believe that with all the core knowledge he already had access, which is all the knowledge from the very sith order, whose knowledge came from people like Darth Plagueis, Darth Bane, Darth Revan or even people like Naga Sadow, he couldn't have got access to much more knowledge about the dark side.
Care to answer me here?
PS: I will answer you tomorrow whatever you answer because I have a presentation to finish, so take your time.

Absolutely.
First, Palpatine did get more powerful. That's not open to debate, discussion, or interpretation. Not only does he himself confess that he has gotten more powerful since Endor, but the Ultimate Visual Guide confirms that he "studied in the Force to become more powerful."
Second, Palpatine had access to an incredible amount of Sith knowledge prior to his ascent to Emperor. However, his resources became limitless upon the birth of the Empire; in the past, Palpatine lived a demanding political life as Senator and then Supreme Chancellor, as well as his alter ego, Darth Sidious. He managed the orchestration of a three year galactic-spanning war and led both sides. He didn't have unlimited leisure time to immerse himself in dark side lore. Meanwhile, when he became Emperor, he left day-to-day operations to individuals such as Sate Pestage, Mas Amedda, and his advisors, while he buried himself in dark side research.
The Dark Empire Sourcebook says that he gathered the works of Force knowledge from a million worlds and studied countless Force traditions in "all its guises." There's a lot more knowledge out there than just the Sith, and Palpatine was able to even explore Sith knowledge further.
Mastery of such a great range of techniques obviously makes him much more powerful than his last incarnation.

I love the hyperbole.
So he gathered the works of millions of worlds and studied all of this knowledge?
Wow. Considering that the Republic itself could not have been made up of more than 1-2 million worlds, where are the rest coming from? More importantly, how is he pillaging millions of worlds and still having time to study the contents? If he pillaged one world's worth of Force knowledge every second, that would take a year for him to reach 3 million or more. Seriously, do you read this stuff before you hit "Submit Reply"?

My problems with this are:
1) As I said, the very sith knowledge that Sidious had access from the sith order himself should be far greater then whatever force religion he could find around the galaxy, which would mean that 99% of his dark side knowledge should already be in his possession before he became the emperor.
2) Now, even if we can think that during his reign as emperor he gathered and extended his force knowledge, thus increasing his power (even though as I said before I hardly think he could have greatly extend his knowledge about the dark side), what kind of knowledge could have he got during the years post endor? I mean, hadn't he "gathered the works of millions of worlds"? So, what kind of knowledge could he got from ROTJ until the DE? In fact, the only thing I can think is the force storm, sure, he had now a new weapon (one he couldn't control though), but taking that, I see no other reason for him to become more powerful.

Yes, I tend to forget that everything that doesn't apply to Dooku or Ragnos is either "hyperbole" or "ambiguous."
Do get over it, Janus. You were beaten on that front practically on my second day here.
So he gathered the works of millions of worlds and studied all of this knowledge?
For someone whose primary attack is lecturing others on reading comprehension, Janus, I expected much better:
"With the resources of a galaxy at his disposal, [Palpatine] gathered the greatest works of knowledge from over a million worlds. He studied the Force in all its guises throughout the galaxy, whether it was the shamanism of Jarvashqiine or the tales of the Tyia. Coupled with perversions of the secrets he ripped from the living minds of Jedi he captured during the Purge, he learned more than he ever
expected."

Wow. Since when was "over a million" equal to "millions"?

Right. And it's impossible and implausible for three million clones to fight a three year, galactic-level war against a quadrillion battle droids.
But hey, it happened. It's still canon. Get over it.
