anyone get the new maps?
Not me because I believe that purchasing areas is a waste of points. The reason I got all the map packs for Halo 3 was 'cause I needed to play the rest of the modes. It was completely crooked for Bungie to do that and thank god they didn't do it again in Halo Reach.
That is more microsoft's fault than Bungie's IMO. They never wanted to charge for map packs in H2, and after a couple of months all the map packs could be DLed for free and those playlists restrictions did not exist. Only Halo 3 had that bullshit system. And I remember they even gave one map for free as a gift.
Been enjoying the campaign so far. They did a good job ramping down on the silliness that's plagued the series and actually making the enemies intimidating again. In Halo 3 everyone seemed to be having too much of a good time trying to save earth from the dangerous covenent, filled with silly clown aliens yelling like chipmunks. In Reach there's a bit of a darker tone and I welcome it.
Also like the changes to the weapons - they actually feel like guns now, rather than plastic toys or nerf guns. And they all sound more powerful, too.
Also the level design is a big step up. They did a good job.
I'm probably gonna have no choice but to get Bungie Pro. The videos I made are so awesome. Ask Zack Fair, he'll certainly agree. One video I made is titled "Look Out Below!" In it, it shows me destroying an enemy Falcon with a Covenant bazooka (or whatever it's called) at the top of the Spire and after it blew up, the debris from it went spiraling down to the ground and splattered one of my teammates which counted as a betrayal. It was amazing. Definatley something worth showing to the community.

I thought much of the same points. It was my first Halo game I've ever played, so since Reach I'm going an playing them from the beginning. It's an alright way to start since this is a prequel, but so far the rest have been kinda silly. Still neat, but the colorful world of Halo seems to sync up with the dark tones Reach gives.
Gameplay-wise Halo hasn't changed much(besides Reach introducing the AA) so they are all pretty good for multiplayer.
Halo:CE
Campaign is fine but Halo CE is known for its backtracking levels--although the atmosphere the game sets up in Halo is still unmatched by any other Halo except maybe Reach.
The multiplayer is still the best if it wasn't for Reach and the armor abilities that spice things up. Why would I say its the best? Because the guns are actually powerful. The Pistol is God among men, and even with the great OP Pistol the rest of the guns feel really powerful.
Halo 2
Has a longer campaign with less backtracking and a lot of story on the covenant. At the time of release this was big and inspired lots of arguments between the fans. Needless to say the Arbiter is a good char and in Halo 2 you get to play as him instead of just having him as your sidekick.
The multiplayer is great, but it suffers from a lot of inbalance(for a Halo game anyway) and glitches such as Super Bouncing, BXR, BXB etc. Halo 2 has the best maps out of any Halo bar none. If it was still online I would still play it.
So I dunno, I'd recommend them but then Halo Reach has everything those games had to offer and more.
I miss the oldschool H2 matchmaking days. So much fun even with all the mayhem caused by glitchers. modders, standbyers and even bridgers.
