FIREFLY RPG - Episode 0 - Prologue

Christopher grabs his shin and bites his lip for a brief second, then decides to jump on Marina's opening and punch Phil square in the back of the head.

"Nice save, girl! Though I doubt anyone will mind if you put a round or two into his leg...", he says off handedly as he makes his attack.

Marina wholeheartedly agrees with Christopher- though not necessarily about the final location of her bullets- and aims with her revolver, putting a round into Phillip to put an end to this nonsense.

Then I will need to pause and ask Marina what Gun schticks she wants functioning and ask Christopher the same of Combat schticks!

Kelly has snatched up a whopping great assault rifle, Alan.

"Let's get up there and see if Harm's ploy has done anything to deter our new friends," Kelly says. He hits the intercom again.

"I want the crew to meet me at the access to the topside maintenance hatch!" Kelly shouts to make sure everyone hears him. "Harmony, keep it sealed until we get up there."

"I hope so... I don't want to spend the rest of the trip fixing up any damage from a firefight," Alan says, heading out to the maintenance hatch.

Is there any way Alan can sneak up on our new friends?

While the fighting is going on Gabriel will make his way to the armory, perhaps he can arm himself.

There is only one way to that hatch, Alan, and Kelly wants to cover it. Not sneaky, but the invaders will have no choice but to face you after being gassed with coolant.

-

Gabriel is slinking off to the armory, then. You don't have have the swipe key to open it, though. How do you plan to get in?

I'd like to get to Kelly convince him I can help, he was close to the armory just a second ago, right?. I figure Gabriel assumes it's pirates, from the second impact and the random attack by Phil.

Kelly is moving away from it, but he did just announce that you all had unwelcome company on the intercom.

Ah well. Alan will wait with Kelly for the others to arrive, fidgeting with nerves the entire time.

Christopher's active Shticks will currently be Street Fighter, Martial Artist, and Focused Blow.

Marksman, Lightning Reload, Straight Shooter.

Here we go then!

Christopher's unarmed skill is boosted by +4 dice from Martial Artist, giving him a Combat pool of 10 dice total! It is reduced by a die by Phillip's Defense of 1, leaving him with 9 dice. He rolls 3 successes and adds that to his punching damage, which is at 3* due to Street Fighter. Six damage to Phillip as Christopher's refined punch strikes him directly in the base of his skull.

But Marina decides that bludgeoning the poor hijacker is not enough and opts to shoot him. Using a Light Revolver with Marksman gives her a pool of 8 dice to shoot with after Defense is subtracted. Rather unimpressively, she only gets a success (doubled by Straight Shooter) as a gunshot goes off at Phillip.

Phillip responds in kind... by shooting at Kenneth, his original hostage! But holdout revolvers do not exactly pack a punch (lacking a base damage!) and only really serve in a pinch. No longer held at gunpoint, Kenneth only takes two damage.

Marina will shoot at him again, frustrated with herself for letting the situation fluster her into making a poor shot and wishing she had her rifle at this moment.

(Which I will spend a Money point on to put it in the Armory, Rex, if I didn't already! Make it more accurate.)

I believe this will be the point at which Nadra, who is unarmed at the moment, is going to move back out of the way.

(I think we all still have the stuff from the armory that we borrowed earlier, but I didn't expect Nadra to jump into a fight. Just saying. 😛 )

I figured she'd probably be unarmed since Rex said that only the crew kept their weapons with them 😛

Yes, Nadra is unarmed.

Kenneth will back the hell away, looking for cover. "Damnit, no shooting!"

Christopher has had just about enough of Phil's idiotic tenacity, throwing another punch at Phil in an attempt to get him on the floor so he can either curb stomp the hell out of him or at least keep him pinned down.

Harmony continues to keep doors sealed, monitor the situation- particularly the lifesigns of the boarding party- and try to remove the virus from the system. When she hears the gunfire, however, she freezes in place for a second, before getting up to make sure the door is still sealed and locked. Using the headset, she says, "Captain, is that you? I just heard shots fired." She takes a seat again, and glances back at the display, checking for lifesigns on the entire ship rather than just the upper maintenance hatch.
