Ok, im gonne give a fanboy answer and a normal one. here goes for fanboy: Altair wins because of his home field advantage, his many years of training, the fact he can jump off a roof and stab a guy in a vital organ 100% of the time, with no time to look for it, his eagle vision which sorts out friends and foes, and the fact he has many skills,m including climbing buildings, swords, short blades, his hidden blade, and his throwing knives. Also, his method of finding his targets.
normal: Altair looks cool and pwns all Templars so he pwns this guy.
wait, switch those around.
Shadowbane is an MMO from 2002 which Ubisoft provided for free until 2009. Altair was probably based on the assassin from this game, and infact, his clothes resemble the assassin armour.
Assassins in shadowbane can literally steal your breath at range, slowing your movements and killing you. Shades can see invisible and hidden enemies with witchsight, and are super-humanly agile and fast. Just a bit frail.
Edit: also, the game's lore is made of win.
Altair has been shown to fall like, 300 feet in a free fall and live, by landing in a cart of hay. I dont think some1 so frail could do that, he would be going to the "view points" all around, and find him like that. And he would find a way to assassinate him. I dont think they based Altair off of a guy from a MMO.
True, but he has shown the ability to be able to strike silently, lethally, 100% of the time, in a way that no one notices. How would the assassin see him comiing from above him, when his blade is 1 inch from his jugular? He could even walk up to him, as Altair also can blend into any crowd, and not be seen as an enemy, even by alerted guards right next to him. The shadow assassin would have to be a Templar to see him anywhere. Otherwise, the blade goes into his neck or stomach. You are also forgetting, Altair lived during the crusades, when a guard see this assassin of yours, he would attack it calling it a demon, because pale skin+ black eyes +highly religious guards= a demon being attacked.
Hmmm. I dont know how to rebuke that, but I must say you have made a good case. But you forgot one thing: It dose not say he knows who he is, just that he is assigned to kill him. Can the Shade react in time to stop the blade that is 1 inch from his stomach? I would give Altair the advantage due to the fact that he would know who the shade is when he looks through eagle vision. I dont think a rumor can be used in a versus fight. It would not be considered real.
Well, there's debate over whether Shades have souls. The reason they exist supposedly, being that they're born to human parents, is that the void devours their soul before they're born.
And when woudl the knife get that close to the Shade? and how would a Shade be assigned to kill someone if he didn't know who they were? o.O
They'll spot each other at range, then the fight begins. I give it to the Shade mor e often than not because of magic.
