Shade Assassin. [Shadowbane] vs Altair

Would the shade have to stop combat for even a second to use said magic? If he did, i would give it to Altair due to action and reaction times, and skill with a blade. Btw, he walks up and stabs him, like a low-profile kill. Altair killed peopel with no knowledge of their appearance, only their names and city they were in. I would think that shows superior quality as an assassin if the shade has to have a physical description.

How is he going to get to the Shade without being noticed?

He blends into a group of scholars.

Witchsight.

Witch sight seems to be omnipotent. Plz explain it uses and all. But you havnt answered my question of the magic=exiting the fight thing. That would be a major factor.

Witchsight is a magical ability of shades to see things others cannot, be it through disguises, people hiding, or even invisible beings. IE, you can't hide from a Shade, it makes them excellent assassins.

And.. Magic = exiting the fight? What? He could just steal Altair's breath, blind him, or use pass-wall to teleport ontop of a church and rain shadowbolts on him.

[*is reading old SB lore*]

No, iwas wondering if he had to do some few second ritual thingy to do it. Altair can also survive for long enough to put his sword in the shades stomach without breathing. He may not even breathe, as he is silent and breathing makes noise, I think he does though.

Ofcoure he breathes, he's human. Anyway, a being with no breath in it's lungs doesn't move as fast as any healthy Shade, and he could easily kite Altair out. And yes, there is a very short casting time on steal breath, it takes 0.2 seconds, I believe. Not fast enough for Altair to react with anything more than a "crap!", and it can be cast at a distance of 50 meters. Altair could presumably break int oa run in that time, but the Shade could outrun him.

Altair would have his blade about halfway to the shade. He has shown to slice in about 1 second in a lethal manner.

A slice at 50 meters?

Not 50 meters, but a throwing knife in his throat, yes.

Ever tried throwing a knife a hundred anf fifty feet accurately? Let alone with the breath in your lungs literally stolen, eh. The Shade would react to it at that distance anyway, a normal person could, infact. It only takes a quarter of a second for the average person to react to a falling object or the like.

And you are forgetting that Altair has trained years to perfect his physical strength and all that, he can throw that far. Besides, Altair would react as if he was holding his breath, he would run up, throwing knives along the way, and kill the shade with his sword at close range.

And the Shade in this scenario hasn't trained for a long time and experienced combat? We're talking about a master assassin, he steals Altair's breath at range, dodges thrown knives, or simply steps aroudn a corner. Altair's got oh.. a minute during which he can function on any worthwile level? Tops, he'll die in three. The Shade can best him in combat easily in that state.

Yeah, i lose. These Shades are way to overpowered and must be killers of parties. How about without magic? Who would win?

Without magic I'm inclined to call it fifty fifty, dead on, it'd simply be two master assassins trying to stick a knife between the other's ribs first. The Shade is a bit weaker, but more agile and faster.

But yeah, The more I think about the assassin's magic, the more I think it's a bit unfair.

Does the magic call upon anything? If so, it wouldnt work due to it not existing.

/headdesk. If the Shade can exist in Altair's universe, so can it's magic. It's a magical being by definition.

Shade's are only born to human parents after a catastrophic even in Aerynth known as "The Turning", they're likened to undead, and are cold to the touch. They do not have enough life force to pass on and create children, they are sterile. This is another part of the no soul argument. They cannot be blinded, and are linked to the void, and are the only race capable of becomign Shroudborne. Essentially masters of death and the chill of the grave, they make excelletn necomancers and assassins. =D

Fanboy: Altair pwns him like all the Templars.
Not Fanboy: Aaltair has the skill of 20 years or more under his hood, acrobatic skills the likes of which no one else can replicate, and skill with a blade rivaled by very few. The Shade would be branded as a demon essentially, and be hunted by many. I honestly still dont think it would win, but i still lose =-(

The Shade could hide from anyone who isn't Altair... Though being distracted by a bunch of Templar could cause him some serious problems, should they interfere, but by then, Altair's breath would already be stolen.
